| Lighting kit question..
I installed the lighting kit in my Defender and everything is good with that part of it. I am wondering if anyone knows what connector it is that actually fits the connection on the power supply because some of the lights that I got to mount on my bumpers have normal sized servo connectors on them. I would like to change them over so I can use the empty spots on the supply and just keep everything simple. It's a special plug that Traxxas used. Word of warning, the Traxxas light kit is only 3v, most cheaper light kits that have a "servo plug" are 6v. So they will be very dim if plugged into the Traxxas system. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

I believe the Traxxas power supply steps down the voltage? You would want to be sure it could even run your lights. Edit: What Brimdogg said above, he beat me to it and explained it better...! Last edited by Summitonslingrs; 09-06-2018 at 11:17 AM. Reason: I'm slow... |

Some of the stuff that I am looking to add is more looks over functionality (marker lights and such) that I don’t mind too much if they are a little on the dim side. Was just looking to see if there is a way to get the wiring to change them over or not. I do appreciate the point of the voltage too though as that was something I had not considered. If you are ok with the brightness and are willing to do some soldering I'm thinking you could purchase Traxxas 8031 for $6.00 and solder it onto your lights. Traxxas 8031 https://traxxas.com/products/parts/8031 Last edited by Summitonslingrs; 09-06-2018 at 11:28 AM. Reason: More Info! |

Ok, I experimented a bit with the lights and found that the other brands of lights will not even illuminate with the Traxxas supply so I had to find an adapter to split a normal servo connection. My new Hobbywing will be going in soon, once I get my replacement soldering gun. Have a set of J.S.T. connectors coming too so I can keep everything working the same once I get the new one in. Also scored a spare motor nice and cheap so that is another plus. Hope everyone has a good weekend of wheeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I never thought twice about it until now. When I installed the light bar I thought it was shuttle dim when hooked to the traxxas power supply. Would the best option be to run a splitter off the direct lipo power and run a voltage reducer for say the light bar/ winch?

Would split off a channel of the receiver if you still run the stock ESC since most led stuff looks to be designed for the 6-8 volt range for the scale stuff. The Hobbywing ESC has a programming/fan port that can be used as a 6v supply for lighting too. I have both the Traxxas supply and a splitter coming from the receiver so I can power both my Traxxas and non Traxxas lights. Battery voltage can damage them if they are not meant to run that high of a voltage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
