Steering Servo for Hobby Wing WP 1080?

Hello, the stock steering servo died on my TRX4 (surprisingly) and took out my ESC. I put in a WP 1080 with a 6V 3A internal BEC. What's a good servo to use that I dont need an external BEC for? Building the rig for a mix of trails and crawling. Thanks!

That my friend is the million dollar question. It going to really depend upon your personal preference. Lots of members are using a HD 20kg servo. For the price of it (ballpark $25-30 shipped) it is a very popular servo. Some members are using the Holmes Hobby servos with varying prices. Some are using ProModeler servos again price varying. These are just a few examples there are many others out there. Depending upon how how torque you are going after no BEC required with the above examples. If you choose to use a BEC your torque output is going to increase. Also keep in mind replacement gear sets for them along with how easy it is for you to get the parts delivered to you.
As for me I have a ProModeler servo waiting to go in my JK build. Price was right and construction looks awesome. My other TRX has a Savox which was horrible. I would not recommend it as it is noisy and struggling to at times on a stock truck. By which I mean no extra weight added.
Hopefully some of this helps but be prepared for a long list of choices :lmao:

I use just the cheap 20-23KG servos that you can find on most online shopping pages like fleabay and the Amazon.

The Savox 1230SG is rated at 500 oz/in at 6v which is perfect when paired with the HW1080 with BEC set to 6v. Keep in mind the stock RX and shift servos must be run at 6v if you want them to live.

Thanks everyone, the local shop stocks the Savox 1230SG, so I picked one up today. Fit and worked perfectly.

Excellent choice, I have 3 of those and never had an issue with any of them.
