Mamba Monster X and Bowhouse Low CG battery tray

I've had the Mamba Monster X for some time but have been stumped to find a decent mounting place as the original ESC position would be too tight and I need the rear ESC mounting place for a fulll-sized shift servo, again still in the planning stage. My original thought was to fabricate a bracket in front of the steering servo but I had never got around to doing this.

Having recently bought the Bowhouse battery tray I got that installed the other day and the rig had been sitting without the body for a few days while I patched some body cracks sustained in a 30ft rollover. I noticed the ESC while taking out some E6000 glue to coat the drywall tape and decided to take it out and look again at mounting options.

As soon as I looked at the rig I noticed that the forward section of the new battery tray is quite flat and tried the size to find that it could have been made for the ESC. The ESC will be little higher than stock but it will be on the center line and wiring will be very easy.

I'll be getting a small hole punch to make two holes in the 3M dual lock tape that I will be using so that I can easily access the two forward mounting screws in the battery tray and cut the shape to suit as the rear part of where I will be mounting the ESC has a recess.

Pictures in a few days when I get it put together.

Sounds like a great solution. Post up some pix once you have it installed. :-)

I had the Mamba Monster mounted on the battery tray in the Bronco up front, is a good location unless you want to lower the body further, in my case i'm using the Proline 4Runner body and it hits the ESC so i can't lower it further that what i wanted, so i relocated the ESC besides the transmission servo, also i don't have the nerf bars installed, maybe with the stock Bronco body clearance is not an issue, either way i would check first

This is where my Mamba X is mounted. I just used some velcro. Make sure you keep enough room so you can get to the pinion gear.

I'm using the 3M Dual Lock but I haven't left room to get at the pinion gear, figure that the dual lock should be able to be pulled apart whenever this is necessary. I decided to just cut square holes for access to the battery tray screws so it is now in place, just waiting on some 6.5 to 4mm bullet adapters to get it running with the stock motor. I have my eye on a HH Puller Pro 3500KV to replace the stock motor as soon as I convince my wife that this is the only way to avoid a world-wide catastrophe. JRH recommended that KV, my initial thoughts were more towards the 2200KV or 2700KV.

Photos soon.

I thought about front mounting but the length of the leads on the MMX and the batteries wouldn't have made it, especially since the Low CG battery tray pushes the battery farther back than the stock tray.

The small Part of the CI plate ist placed direct beside of the motor. Should be big enough to mount the MMX.
