Brushless or coreless? Which is the preferred option and why?

Or buy a HobbyWing WP 1080 with a good BEC built into it for $42. You would then need to solder though.

Better send it back to Traxxas, it certainly isn’t normal not to eat gears.

Short answer is that brush-less is generally preferred because they don't wear out like a core-less servo motor does. Downside is that they generally cost more.

RPP just put them up for pre-order, oops they're actually in stock
https://www.rpphobby.com/SearchResul...h=traservos103

it's interesting that they state: "Waterproof Not "Water Resistant"
Traxxas knows the difference between “water resistant” and waterproof. Traxxas High-Torque servos are completely waterproof to give you the freedom to run when you want, where you want. Power through streams and bogs without fear while trucks with “water resistant” servos are stuck on the sidelines."

So the first approved submarine-able servo?

Seen em for coreless 300 for 99$us and brushless 400 for149$us. I am assuming the 300 or 400 means in/lbs tourque. In my opinion I will have to go with a proven name for now. Are they offering them as an upgrade in any of their rigs yet does anyone know?

They list 330 and 400 oz in, but not at which voltage.

I see that but they list a range of 6-7.4 volts, I'm sure it is 7.4 but why cant they list the basic specs like every other manufacture: torque and speed a X volts= Z torque and speed at Y volts = X

EDIT: nevermind they do list the specs other places (I was just looking at RPP)

So those oz in ratings are actually at 6 volts so it should be even stronger at 7.4

Those prices...ouch! I feel for the people that don't know there are better options for less out there.

Thanks for the explanation.

Also been running my stock servo for a year. Not as strong as my Savox on my other RC but still working.

That's awesome they putting something out. But again I think most will not spend big money on a traxxas servo. If I'm buying a upgraded servo it's going to be a savox or hi tec. I know others have they brand of choice as well and nothing wrong with that either. I wonder if traxxas has plans to have this in a kit with a trx4 or something.

Looks like Traxxas wised up and dropped the price on the 400oz servo to $99. MUCH more reasonable. Just wish the BEC was cheaper.
