| HH Revolver issues in a TRX-4
OK, I know tons of ppl have put these into their TRX-4, what am I missing here? Holmes Hobbies Revolver 540, 1800 kv, going into a TRX-4. Never heard of anyone needing spacers or anything? First attempt at trying to put pics on here, hopefully it works.... Well, seems it didn't work, let's try this... https://photos.app.goo.gl/bNsKD1ffJajJXKqz8 No idea if pics are working...but here is the issue in a nutshell.. The shaft on the motor seems way too long, it actually extends out past the plastic cover/mount and is impossible to mount up correctly. The flat part of the shaft begins at the gear, making proper mesh impossible. It's like I need spacers? Never heard of this issue before. Last edited by MODC; 09-30-2018 at 03:29 PM. |

Try contacting them. Its likely the shaft is out of spec. You could grind or cut back the shaft. Just take precautions not to get the filings in the motor, use cardboard or a plastic bag. It's a great motor, torquey and easy to maintain. Don't let this oversite get you bummed it's a relatively easy fix. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

You can also put more of a flat spot on the shaft . A Dremel or similar rotary tool with a cut off wheel is ideal for this situation. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

Already sent him a msg via his "contact us" form on his website....will see what he says, and assume he will want to see the pics. I'm thinking spacers might be easier than the dremel, or, a replacement, although I'm also in Canada, which may complicate things.... Could you see the pics using the link? |

I was able to see the pics using the link. They have good cs, but sometimes can be terse. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

First, reverse the pinion on the shaft so it is oriented with the set screw away from the motor housing. Then once you have the pinion properly lined up with the spur gear you can trim off the excess shaft so it fits under the mount cover. BTW, Once it is installed be prepared for the most annoying noise you can imagine. Last edited by Inspector86; 09-30-2018 at 07:22 PM. |

I absolutely love mine, in a Bomber - the 1800kv version, running 4S and 3S... I'm actually fine with the sound, and it smooths out the faster it goes. I don't have an interior, so mine is exposed - let it sing out! |

| Re: HH Revolver issues in a TRX-4 How do they stand up in dirt and stuff? I had my local HS really try to talk me out of the revolver. His view was it would not last at all because of dirt getting in it.

Its always spinning so it tends to be the cleanest thing on the truck on the outside at least. Anyway I wont personally be too worried about it cause it can be torn down and cleaned but no one really wants to do that with a brushless motor. And on the sound, its really not as bad as the videos make it sound.

No issues at all. Think of it this way - when it spins it blows everything near it clean! When I get home from a couple of hours of running it, I just blast everything out with compressed air from my Metro DataVac de-duster: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...EALw_wcB&smp=y Best money I ever spent - never buy compressed air again, and way better for the environment, mine is several years old and I use it at least every week for cleaning all sorts of stuff. I do make certain I blow into the Revolver's "cylinders"... BTW - don't let your LHS talk ya out of stuff they likely don't understand - Outrunners have been around for many, many years. They are great for many applications!
