I'm using 15wt oil in mine. Stock was way too heavy IMO.

I'm running 15wt as well. Noticed a huge difference. You can see my comparison here https://youtu.be/BE4zu54tOvk

I am also using 15 wt in mine. Just changed it for this weekend, and am really happy with it so far. I also backed the spring preload off to about 5mm from the top of the shock threads. Softed it up and made it more flexible for sure.

You also need to undo the lower seal cap and lube the seals with Green Slime and when you put the cap back on leave it about 1/4 turn looser to allow the shock rod to move freely in the seal. Stock shock oil is 30wt and I use 10wt or 15wt depending on temp. I also switched to the optional .39 Traxxas springs #8044 front and rear which allows just a bit more static droop. I shoot for about 40-50% droop in the suspension. The Traxxas GTS shocks are some of the smoothest shocks on the market and are great with just a little tune up.

I agree with what Inspector said. I green slimed mine to seal them up. I decided to use 20w. For me 20w feels just right for the weight of my truck. 30w was way to stiff IMO.

I also think these are the best kit shock out there. Super smooth with no leaks.

I bought 2 extra sets of these shocks and put them on my SCX10.2 & my 1.9 Wraith. I am still debating on putting these shocks on my VS4-10.

Here is a pic of it. You can buy it at most hobby shops. My local Hobbytown always has it in stock. Can also get it from Amain or RPP.

I like to run 20wt front and rear. My truck is just under 8lbs.

My shocks leaked when I backed off the lower caps and they were still sticky, so I swapped the spacers from kit #2362
Another thread with good info:
Has anyone rebuilt their shocks yet?

Curious... for those that have changed to 15 wt... how heavy is your rig? Loads of brass, original weight, somewhere in the middle? Just wondering... thanks.

I am going with 25wt in my JK TRX4 as I am going to have have some weight to the truck. I figured 15wt would be to soft. Also I might change the springs to lower it down a bit but not sure yet

My Trx-4 with battery is just under 9lbs. 6oz bumper, steel beadlocks and CODYBOY knuckle weights is the only added weight I have. I noticed a big difference going to the 15wt. I like it. Don't think I'd go any lighter though

Coming from a racing background i have found the Avid o ring slop to be better than the green slime. Shocks turn out buttery smooth. The other nice thing is that when you get done with it you can clean out the container and use for some small screws or washers or what nots. Plus there is no waste compared to the tube of green slime as it's difficult to get it all out of the tube

Old post, but for those (like me) who find it via search...

In many 1:1 applications (motocross, MTBs, and other suspension systems) slickoleum is used for O-Ring and seals. It is a very sticky but slick grease. Stays where you put it and lubes better than anything. $25 for 15 ounces. About 10x cheaper than Avid Slop.
