I always thought the Tactical was cheaper because of the simple, Lexan body.

Hmm...they weren’t when I bought the Bronco. I think it’s poor sales of the Tactical and the Gen8 coming.

I don't think Traxxas has one ounce of fear or worry about Redcat. But it's the holidays and every other brand is having sales so that's my guess.

I just checked the Traxxas website and the list price of the Tactical is $429.99.

Hmm...odd. Thought they were all the same.

I’d get the kit because I like my two speed. I know many delete it but I like it. Pure crawler I suppose it’s less risk of issues but I trail run a lot too. Might get my son a sport though.

Personally I think the Gen8 is gonna take a bite outta the Sport’s sales. We shall see. I ordered lol.

The tactical is the same as the defender in most ways. The body includes wheel wells, so it's more than just a simple lexan body. Doesn't have the cage, though.

I think that the lack of accessories to personalize the Tactical Unit made for poor sales at its given price point. Traxxas should have made few add ons for it like lights and .50 cal gun turret. Hmmmm?

Agreed! Anyone have a 3D printer? I see an opportunity! Some add-ons like that would give it a whole new attraction imo

I think that fact that the body is fugly, at least with the stock paint, is a big reason why it didn't sell!

I have at least one each of the Defender, Bronco and Sport bodies. I have zero interest in the Tactical body. I suspect the Tactical's general appeal is not as wide spread as the other three bodies and the RTR price simply reflects that.

Even at $399, it's just not a good deal compared to the other models - the Defender body has SO much more to it than the Tactical, easily worth $50.

The snorkel, roof rack, and upper body cage may add weight, but sure bring a lot of scale detail...

I'll admit to thinking just for a second about going for the savings, but since I'd immediately toss the body it's pointless.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a price drop somewhere, or at least a legal discount coupon, on the Defender.

(I seriously doubt it'll happen, except maybe an eBay coupon, Traxxas is still sellin' 'em like hotcakes)

Got a strong case of the WANTS....

Cut the windshield out, replace with clear glued-in lexan, cut side windows as if they are rolled all the way down, leave the cargo and rear windows as they are, paint the inside black, paint the outside of a silver model a khaki golden sand color with a matte clearcoat and a gloss white roof.

Mount my LURC Trail Ready wheels with RC4WD Interco Ground Hawg IIs in 4.75" O.D.

Install Mamba X and HH Revolver 1800kv on 4S and a new servo.

Hit the trail!

SSD bumpers to follow.

(pretty sad, I remember bench-racing sports cars as a kid, now as an old man I'm doin' the same thing with toy trucks!)

I think the Tactical was a missed opportunity to do another exo-cage vehicle, like the Summit. Seeing this pic confirms to me that the Tactical body was just pretty lazily done (not my truck obviously).
