I done heat gun for Axial rtr rims and boiling water for canyon trails. Both worked.., neither was very fun. They are a large tire but sure do work!! Not sure if it’s worth the effort.., in Canada most tire prices are ridiculous. If I were in the states., I’d buy scale licenced tires. All the best Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had great success baking them off... 1. Pre-heat the oven to 200C 2. Wrap each wheel in TWO layers of aluminium foil (keeps the smell to a minimum) 3. Bake for 5 minutes 4. Turn the oven off and leave them in for 30 minutes. They peeled right off - no fuss. Use a towel though, the moisture in the foams will still be hot. And take them outside before unwrapping them - it stinks. I also chucked a crust of bread in the oven afterwards to “soak up” the stink *BONUS POINTS* -rc_oxo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bake them off or use the desk lamp trick. Boiling sucks and doesn't work for me. Last edited by Natedog; 08-13-2019 at 04:08 PM. |

I did mine a year ago with a heat gun. Ruined two wheels (remember shrinky din’s?) and the glue pulled two beads right off the tire. I really like the canyons but won’t be trying that again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Finally was able to get the Canyon tires off the stock Defender rims. Any advise on how to get the remaining glue residue off the tires? Looks like where I tried to wick acetone along the bead, there's some tough remaining residue there. Real bugger getting these off. >Heated in food dehydrator at 160F for 90 minutes - Nope >>Wick acetone alone the rim with an old eye dropper. Multiple application over two days. Not budging >>>Boiled in water for 20-30 minutes. Maybe loosened up 1 1/2 - 2 of the eight beads. >>>>Heat gun. This finally worked but it took time and persistence. |
