| Traxxas High Torque 330 servo
Is anyone running the 330 steering servo in their rig? I’ve seen a lot of suggestions for various hitec and savok servos but I was interested if anyone is using the 330 and what is their experience with it.

The Traxxas servos are way over priced for what you get. For example, the Traxxas 2250 servo is rated at 330oz/in at 6v for $99. By comparison, the Savox 1230SG is rated at 500oz/in at 6v for $69. It's your money.

How does the 1230SG fit? I’ve read that it doesn’t exactly drop in. Are you running a BEC with it?

I have the hitec 7955tg in mine and it fit without any mods. Not sure if they mount the same as a savox but that one fit fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Tmaxxed; 01-28-2019 at 04:58 AM. |

Don't buy the Traxxas servo. Save your money for sure. I put the Savox 1230 in mine. You may have to enlarge the holes in the plastic mount on the one side for the Savox or you can do what I did and buy the Year Racing mount and chassis brace. I believe it was LSXGMC that turned me onto it and I really like that part. The Savox servo drops right onto it. You can see that in my thread here: Jato Got a Bronco |

I run the savox 1230 as well. The holes don't exactly line up but it's a non issue. What I did run into is my samix servo horn hitting the panhard bar and full articulation. I solved this by adding some 3mm nylon washers under the servo to raise it up slightly.

To install the Savox 1230SG you will need to do some MINOR trimming on the plastic mount holes opposite the shaft and you will need a 6" servo extension cable. Since the 1230SG is rated at 6v the stock XL5 ESC would power it but the XL5 is weak at only 1a so you might experience brown outs. A BEC would correct the low amperage XL5 ESC issue, but before spending money on a BEC I would highly recommend upgrading to the HW1080 ESC for $40 which would eliminate the need for a BEC plus it is a much smoother ESC. If you look on ebay you can find 1230SG combos that include an aluminum servo horn.

Thanks, and back to the regularly scheduled servo and related parts recommendations.

If you checkout my thread you will see there is somewhat extensive work required to install this part, but it's worth it IMO.
