| Cutting Bogger tires
Somebody had a post on here they had Boggers for their trx4 and they cut off every second lug. I searched but cannot find it. I wanted to ask the user how much of a difference it was after he did it before i started to cut mine. Anybody remember who that might have been? Thx |

In the tires and wheels section there is a thread with cut tires only. Think it's the 3rd page in right now. Pretty sure there's a couple guys that have cut boggers on there. When I cut my 1:1 boggers it was a huge improvement, but I was only using them for mud and sand not crawling

I cut off the small lugs on my 40 series mudslingers on my Summit. Seemed to improve traction pretty good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

RC4WD sells a "pre-cut" or pre-siped version of the Bogger in 1.7" - I know that's not what you are looking for, but showing you the tread design might help you decide how to trim yours: Mounted on SSD 5-slot steelies: |

Looks good does it help with climbing? Not impressed with mine stock for climbing.

They worked great in a loose dirt and gravel mixture, have not yet been on any really rocky climbs as I'm painting the body. I do have C.I. Lil' Nova dual-density foams in them... |

Before and after pic of my cut RC4WD Boggers below. For my particular trx4, this was a very worthwhile mod. If I were to do anything additional, it would be to switch to a bit softer or 2-stage foam ( Sidewalls are still a tad stiff) but otherwise, cutting these tires made a noticeable improvement. I see the positive results more on the trail than on the rocks but from loose silica-based sand to hard-pack to mud... performance is greatly improved. |

Do you think its worth it to cut them for better climbing than leaving them stock?

I think it's worth it. Well... In my particular instance I really didn't care too much for their performance stock so if this wasn't going to be much of an improvement, then I could consider it a "wash". I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the results. I guess I'd say that if you have a tire that you like pretty well as is... I'm not sure I would cut them up. But with something that you're really not happy with... go for it. As for climbing specifically... I think that cutting would probably be a good call... more bite! |

Are you just cutting them with scissors?

| Re: Cutting Bogger tires I used scissors to take out the bulk... and tried to do it as cleanly as possible. After that was all done, I went back over each cut with a Dremel using a small diameter grinding-wheel to take out any excess rubber and to remove the remaining imperfections. Using the Dremel also helped to "sculpt" the shoulders a bit more. |

I have a hot knife looks like a soldering iron with a sharp razor blade that heats up. Im going to try that and see how it works.
