I love how the only two people I've seen building a G500 at the moment are two norwegians, me being the second! I got a lot of inspiration and picked up a few good tips from Mud Daug before i started my build.

Here is my project, same body as Mud Daog, but quite a different approach!

In Europe they are more commonly used as serious work vehicles, whereas here in the USA they are driven to the shopping mall.

Every time I visit family in Germany I love seeing all the Unimog service vehicles and Mercedes Benz and BMW taxis.

Maybe ita just me, i dont care for this body. But the military version of the green looked like a cool idea maybe. Again still waiting for traxxas to do a whole new truck.

I like it, just from a performance aspect.
That's the first Traxxas body with a good departure angle

Looking forward to seeing the official Traxxas release on this! Love the body but feel it will look really weird if you don't get the right wheel / tire combo for it. Looks like the package Traxxas is planning to sell will be spot on, but don't think I'm going to be able to just drop this onto my Bronco.

The killer bodies horribul is much nicer and detailed than this poor effort from traxxas. Look at those awful arches. Shocking, they get stuff so right then in the blink of an eye get it so wrong.

The Horri Bull has horrible proportions though! It looks more like a russian crazy offroad car than the real thing. The Traxxas and the hard body is much closer to the G-class in that department.

That said, I'm lowering the windshield similar to the Horri Bull on my hard body to make a replica of Jon Olssons "Lord Hans the G".

Yes and yes.

Agreed.

The military versions are good looking imo, but the civilian version is hideous.
Interesting, bigger than what year Bronco? I've seen quite a few of both and the seem similar but never done side by side comparison.

Looks like it.

Agreed, civiilian version wheels and the dual side exhaust ruin the look. Yes, come on clear windows aren't that hard or expensive to make, blacked out windows with stickers are for low grade toys.

And most definitely run steelies or military style wheels.

Someone took an ex-military Gelandewagen and seriously decked it out right!
Agreed. Nice remake of military version.

So...is there any way at all to get one of these in the USA without having to book a round-trip airplane trip to Europe?

Halla! Går du for Jon Olsson-look eller?

BTW, here is one G500 painted white
I think it looks good in white

Looking forward to see how your build is turning out also.
Are you on facebook? We got a norwegian group for the TRX-4 actually, maybe you want to join us?

Nope. That was the first place I looked. They say at the bottom of the product page that they don't ship it to the USA.

Anyone else notice the G 500 becoming available in the US? Amain shows the blue one available by Aug 17. Not going to get one, myself, but thought I’d bump this back up, to hinder redundant posts.

Cool! I hope it actually happens, because I like the way the TRX-4 G-500 looks and I don't want to spend hundreds more to import it from potentially-unreputable European dealers.

As for its appearance, I don't care if it's 100% scale-accurate, because I plan to actually drive it. Physics doesn't scale linearly, and 100% scale-accurate RCs always drive like shit for that reason.

I already have a few TRX-4s so I'm not looking to add any more. However, I completely dismissed the Mercedes G-500 as being an inaccurate copy that was too cartoonish to ever be considered. I kinda thought people were cherry-picking the photos of real life vehicles to make a point. That was until I just passed this sitting on the street next to the Flora shopping mall here in Prague (Praha 3). Seeing is believing....
