What is the best way to increase suspension travel on the TRX4?

There's no need of you're crawling with it. In fact, more travel will hurt performance.

Taller shock towers like the hot racing or ebay knockoffs will allow you to run a taller shock without increasing ride height. This is my plan anyways. You can buy the long GTS shocks from the traxxas long arm kit and they are just about perfect with the shock towers.

What is with this obsession for lift kits on the TRX4?

I’m just looking for more down travel, not a long arm lift kit

Ok so I found this article and it corresponds with jatotheripper’s response.
I will leave it stock and mess with oil and springs. What have other people found out about the sport stock setup? Too soft or stiff?

The stock shocks are ok but I really like the traxxas 2661 big bores on mine. Slightly longer but they ride lower on the springs I'm using. Stockers are never going back on.

How do we know what the perfect amount of travel is though? Are we all assuming that traxxas just made the perfect rig for every scenario and there is no way to improve upon it? By the logic of that article, shouldnt we be putting shorter, lower travel shocks in so we can climb and sidehill better?

Just seems to me that a blanket statement like adding travel is a bad thing is silly. Its scenario driven and probably highly dependent on setup and terrain.

Do what you want. Thats part of the fun of having a $3-400 rc car. If you roll it off a pile of rocks because your testing the latest mod its not a big deal.
