Default CD's TRX-4 Sport Build

Hey all, I am almost done with my first RC build finally at 55 years old...and thought I would post up some pics of the process. My son is 13 and we bought him a pre-built Sport Tan and then a few days later I thought it would be fun for us to also build one together. Any little project to keep him off the Xbox is worth every penny..

Our build selection:
HH Crawlmaster 540 13T
HobbyWing 1080
Servo 1210
Corsa Grey PS-32
Pearl white PS-57
Rack flood lights
Head tail lights
TRQ and TQ transmitter/receiver

Lessons learned so far..
-Tools matter, my hands are sore from those provided tools but thankful they were included!
-Don't forget to mask the windows before painting
-Don't use Acetone on Lexan

Nice rigs! Those "stainless stealth" driveshafts would've given your boy a BIT of an edge. You guys will probably want that ESC/motor combo for his after you drive yours a little. I run the 1080 and a TorqueMaster 21-turn, and LOVE it! It looks like your both in for lots of fun. Keep us posted.

I would love to see a comparison between this and stock.

I follow Francis' RC Reviews on Facebook. He has explained it a few times but also does in this latest video. I need an advantage over my son's TRX-4 Sport. I am not going to tell him at first...

The build is almost complete! I still have some soldering to do on the motor wires, adding LED lighting with the JST wiring connectors to the ESC. I added the ST RC brass outer Portal Axel covers and also decided to take off the front bumper and D-rings.

I finally got to wheel it a bit in the backyard. Drives totally different than my Son's Stock TRX4-Sport.

When I was a kid, my dad bought me an rc10 gt, Futaba magnum jr. Radio, with a .12 motor and not a single ball bearing on the kit. I put together a list of upgrades I wanted to do to the truck and a month later he bought the full ball bearing race version with bigger motor and a fancy MIP rear exhaust. He basically bought my dream truck and never let me play with it.

Very cool couple of trucks and great idea. Glad you two are enjoying it.

There’s some good stuff out in Colorado with the two crawl space stores, and there’s a friendly bunch of Colorado locals on a FB group called Ridgerunners R/C, in case you two feel like meeting up with a group eventually.

First off, awesome that your boy and you are into the hobby. Hope he loves it. Your definently right, it's a great way to get him off of the video games, least for awhile. And having a crawlwr coarse in the back yard is a plus for sure. The servo you picked out for steering is a good one for sure. Got the same one on 2 trucks and its been very good to us.

I have to ask chrissandstorm what bike is in the background in the garage? You know you cant ride a bike with a flat tire by the way lol.

LOL... I know, I let my wife ride it one day and she gets several goat heads.. I ride it for a year and no goat heads... It's a SantaCruz 5010. I love it, I had the original blur forever... Don't laugh but I fixed it over the weekend and put the new tire on backwards with Stans and all...Ugh, had to flip it. Those tires are a pita to install.

Ok Back to RC, So Ben and I got to finally drive our two TRX-4s together last night and of course he had to build a jump.. Honestly, we had no idea it would be that fun to have two going at once but we really enjoyed it. I will post up some pics soon.

See how the wife is, gives you the flat tire and says you can have your bike back. The blur was a great bike. I didnt have one but rode with a guy that had one. Been there done that, mounted a directional tire backwards and had to fix it. But sometimes having a tire the wrong way sometimes bits the terrain better. Of coarse depending on the terrain your riding.

You know what's better than having 2 trucks? Having more of course. My boy wants another scale truck but he will have to wait till his bday. Riding and playing with the trucks ate the best stuff lol.
