Default Alex's TRX4 Sport kit build

Hi All,

i don't often do build threads for whatever reason but i figured I'd do one on this TRX4 sport kit - its one of the builds I've been most excited about in a long time for whatever reason. Also spent all my free time for the last 6 weeks or so upgrading and setting my new SxS for the spring/summer/fall riding season.

I'll be building it mostly stock for now then tweaking it as i see fit.

I've already got two RTR versions, both the bronco and the defender and i'm looking forward to seeing how the lighter kit version will compare.

Simple build list for now from parts i had laying around:
-Traxxas 21T 550 can
-promodeler servo
-HW1080 esc
-FS GT3B RX/TX
-no name steel bead lock wheels

a few pics from building the transmission last night

Hmmm Noleen on the gears? I've never thought to try that out. I've only been using it for my shocks to prevent leaking.

i tried it on one of my MST CMX builds a while back just for the heck of it and its one of the smoothest running transmissions I've built and its been run pretty hard without issue. i don't run brushless in any of my crawlers though so maybe that would cause more wear and tear - i usually go with red and tacky Lucas oil.

I might have to try it out just to see how I like it. Thanks for sharing!

had about 30 minutes last night between homework and other stuff that needed doing around the house - built the axles.

i was impressed with how well they went together.

my frame rails were scratched up just like everyone else..... poor packaging to blame.

I'm going to try the factory tires but with some better CI dual stage foams and i'm doing to modify the thread blocks in the center like i;ve seen others do, the rubber feels nice and soft/sticky after i washed them.

got to work on it a bit this weekend.

on its feet with some spare wheels and tires, waiting on a set to arrive.

mounted the bumper cross member upside down, gained about 1/2" of additional clearance up front

should be able to put some more time on it this week, i want to have it ready to try out and put it through its paces by the long weekend in May.

Wow dude! That silver blue turned out awesome! I had to trim the front and rear fenders on mine due to the aftermarket wheels.. I have yet to flip the bumper mounts but I'd like to do so. Kind of waiting to see if I purchase metal bumpers before I trim the body to allow for the bumper flip.

thanks, it was my first try at layering paint. Use Tamiya PS-16 Metallic Blue (3 light coats) followed by PS-12 Silver (2 light coats) followed by PS-5 Black (3 coats). Probably one of my best paint jobs other than the damn masking lifting on the flares in two spots without me noticing till i peeled it off . Looks great in the sun.
