Default Trx4 6x6

Hello everyone, so I'm in the process of building a trx4 based 6x6, and I know I've seen an article where someone made a pass through diff cover. And I'm really hoping to find it. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.

This build has been something I've wanted to do for awhile, however now I'm on the fence about cab choice. I do have a man cab, but we shall see. I was going to use an scx10 trans but changed my mind when I found the brazin scale rc skid plate that uses axial bolt pattern to the rails and is narrow like the scx10 skid. Between that and the 6x6 rails they sell I had to have them.

And to make things easier I am going to use these from 1tenthscale rc

I'm also going to be using ssd 2.2 d hole beadlocks with 2.2 rock beast xor tires

And to run it all a sw4 and Holmes hobbies 1000kv revolver. Woot woot. Stay tuned.

And also vote on which cab you like the most

There was a guy who post on this forum maybe a week ago that had built a 6x6. He did not do a pass through axle, instead he used the “blank” output on the rear of the trans to hook up a second rear driveshaft.

Yeah I've seen that. He must've made a custom shaft for the trans because they dont come with that output. There is a shaft next to the transfer case gears but its spinning at a different speed. But I've also seen someone build one with a pass through. What I really am curious about is how he got it to spin the last axle the right direction.

I'd say that Toyota body looks the best. Can't wait to see what you come up with

I ran across this video of the Pitbull 6x6 wrecker on youtube and thought about this thread. This truck would make a great RC build.

Decided to go another route and I'm going to use a 1:1 t case. Pretty impressed with the machining in these cheap t cases and couldnt find a gcm one in stock.

Got my servo mounts in. Now just waiting on the frame rails for mock up.
My first set of servo mounts got printed incorrectly and shapeways sent out another set quick, thanks to the customer service behind 1tenthscale. Awesome to deal with and will buy again.
Also had a close call with these snips while I was doing some body trimming. Almost lost an eye. Grazed my face.
Hopefully have more soon.

Glad you didnt lose an eye.

Are you gunna run the tcase just behind the transmission output and run a shaft to each axle?

I think I'm going to run the t case between the two axles and use a carrier bearing mounted on the frame to get over the first axle.

I think the 2 gear Tcase he has would make the rear axles spin in opposite directions. Would need a 3 gear tcase to keep the same directions.

Same thing, check your rotations. Not sure that’s going to work with the 2 gear tcase.

It's got 4 shafts on it I should be able to run the forward axle with the pinion facing the rear and the rear axle pinion facing forward should work just fine.

Sadly I've come to realize there simply was not enough room for 6 wheel steer and also a carrier bearing with a transfer case between the rear two axles. So until I get a passthrough. I may restart this project as an scx10 6x6 until I have what I need. For now the driveline isn't going to waste going on the mud truck that will eventually have king flings on it. Once the tires are in stock somewhere. I'm excited.
For now I'll start a new thread for both. Since the 6x6 wont be trx4 based for now.

Hey everyone. So its been awhile. Haven't really been building anything. But with the release of the trx6 I started getting motivation again. And finally started getting to work.

Bought a pass through diff cover and rear axle housing from the trx6.Made some brass lower links for the front and center axle. And just used steel for the rest.

Only thing I'm having trouble with so far is how I'm going to put a servo on the rear axle. Hopefully someone makes something on shapeways soon. Haha but here's some pictures of the small amount of progress I've had so far. Diff cover for the rear axle never showed even though it said it was delivered.

If anyone has any leads on a servo mount for that axle I'd appreciate it!
