Default How to shorten Trx-4 wheelbase to 300mm

I called Traxxas and was surprised to find out that they could not tell me how to achieve 300 mm on this supposedly "adjustable wheelbase" truck. I was told they only support the 12.3" and 12.8" wheelbases. He did say it involved changing the rear upper and lower links but could not give me measurements.
Can anyone tell me now to get to 300mm (11.8")? I have seen some chatter in the forums but no specifics.

Thanks for your help!

This exploded modular view shows the length of each link on the Sport chassis. You would just need to adjust the rear links the amount you would want to shorten or lenghen the wheel base.

I just in a stage off building the kit, with pro-line jeep rubicon body (300mm), what I did is ordered 4 link as the front (traxxas 8243) additional to this, I swap the rear L/R shock tower, if you will look at the back of the shock towers there is a mark that mention "12mm" and pointing arrow, so if I got the sport kit it 312mm, and you swap the shock tower, you will get the 300mm wheelbase.

I measure from mid to mid shock tower and I got approx 300mm, so in my case it fir great, I am still in the stage of building it.

hope it help.

The front links work, they'll give you a 303mm wheelbase.

Much appreciated, guys. Thanks for all of the info. TAOTAO, I would love to see a pic of that Jeep build when you're done.

Glad I found this previous thread. I'm looking to achieve about a 296mm wheelbase. Can anyone let me know if both the upper and lower front links and be adjusted inward enough to achieve this? I see 303 mentioned above but can the Traxxas links achieve about 296mm?

thx.........

you cant achieve it with the traxxas link, as on there maximum inward they are 303mm +-, so to get shorter then that you will have to get shorter link.

Hey not to bring back an old thread but my wife bought me the rc4wd 4runner for Christmas. I would like to get it on my trx-4 but with a 287mm wb I'm at a loss. Not good with figuring link lengths. I have the 313 mm now and am willing to buy links. Not sure if I should do both front and rear or rear and buy new drive shafts.

It's best not to mess with the front set up due to the steering geometry. ( I learned that on here by the way ). I just got everything I need to make my own custom rear links for my project. Doing the threaded rod/brake line method. See below video from Harley Designs on three different methods to do custom links. Also, at that length, be prepared to modify the chassis floor plates as they will most likely rub on the rear tire in the stock configuration. I have to do that on my project as well. Good luck.......
