Where to start!

Picked up a new TRX4 Snap On edition a couple days ago and am absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of options this truck has

I used to race 8th and 10th scale off road and there were certain things you did right out of the box for each platform...

What are those things for the TRX4? Electronics? Weighted parts?

What say the community? I want to get into crawling with a few groups around here but have no idea where to start with this platform

Thanks

I would say steering servo 1st thing. Don't know what your budget is, but promodeler PM470 $100 Is my recommendation. Budget servo I would say a ds3218 is a decent servo around $20. Next would be a hobbywing 1080p ESC $42. After that it's all up to you. Beadlocks, good dual stage foams and some axle weight would be my next recommendations. Good luck!

I would drive it as-is for a while. See what works for you and what doesn't and fix the things that don't.

You could drive it first?

You're not gunna know its weaknesses without seeing how it responds on the trail.

Yes, I could drive it first but at the same time, if there are things that are known that need to be replaced I’ll just order it now.

That’s basically what I’m asking.

After driving mine for a while, I can tell you that tires, foams and axles weights (brass portal covers) made a big difference in it's abilities. I put Pro-Line Hyrax and CI Comp Cuts in mine. I also now have aluminum C-hubs after breaking one.

I built it from a kit, so the other guys can comment on the servo and ESC. I went with a HW 1080 and a Savox.
