Trx-4 sport budget electronics?

Any guys build on a budget? Hobbywing 1080 + what motor? Controller/ remote? Servo? Just curious. I want to build a kit, but know nothing about crawling

Hobbywing 1080 plus a Holmes Hobbies 21T 550 motor. Those will run you about $64 at Amain.

25KG servo and a FLysky GT3B from Amazon will run you another $63.

For a budget build, that's where I would start.

I just put a HW 1080 and a Savox WP servo in mine. Using stock motor and radio system.

Don't get me wrong, the Mamba X is a terrific ESC. I have a few myself. The Aux wire is almost worth the cost all by itself.

you can't be any better than this combo unless you spend like 3x the amount. Its my go to for most builds.

The Flysky is a great choice because it has multi-model memory and extra receivers are around $10.

I'm also using the HH Trailmaster 550 21t, HW 1080 ESC, DS3218 servo, and the other great FlySky radio - the GT3C.

Love that radio, it's controlling 2 of my crawlers and the lanyard loop is super convenient - look, Ma - no hands!

BTW - I have the same electronics in my Ascender - climbs like a scalded cat...

Such a great budget setup that is still crawlworthy. Exactly my setup for most of my rigs. Only things that vary are usually the motor or the servo for me.

I ended up going with the hobbywing 1080, the flysky gt3b, the holmes 550 21t, and...an amazon special annimos 25kg servo.

I should have orderd the flysky when I ordered the kit..now I get to wait :\ thought i could buy a cheap rx/tx locally, lol.

Just finished my sport kit and I went with a HW 1080 and the stock 21t r motor from Traxxas, been out 3 times and it works better each time!

Just curious..how did you get the hw 1080 to reach across the truck to fit in the reciever box?

I went back and forth for 3 days trying to decide on brushed or brushless. In the end, after reading around, I decided this will be great for my purposes:
HW1080/HH21t, Power HD LW-MG25 WP servo, Castle WP 2.0 BEC w/ link, HH RX bypass, FSGT3B TX/RX, Batt: Protek 3s 3600mAh 100C
The Sport kit should arrive soon, along with TRA8080, fenders/frnt batt tray.
