Default Tools/supplies needed for kit build

I'm prepping my work area and getting ready for my build. What tools and supplies should I have? I already have most of the basic hex hand tools, soldering iron, dremel, tire glue, etc.

Anything else I should make sure I have on hand for assembly? Thanks!

Depends what you call basic tools. MIP makes nice quality set of drivers (1.5, 2.0 and 2.5mm tips) also make set of socket drivers (you'll want 5.5 and 7.0mm), good set of needle nose pliers, lexan scissors (Kyosho or Dubro), that should do since you've got soldering iron, Dremel and CA.

Lexan scissors! I think it's time to refresh my pair. I've used those suckers for everything! Thanks!

X-acto and flush cutters are pretty handy too.

I just worked on the sport kit..it pretty much came with everything. An electric driver would have been really handly..but I found the supplied hex wrench is less straining than a screw driver.

I have a nice electric driver, but it's a larger Dewalt. Is there a smaller electric driver that anyone would recommend? I can see that being handy and a nice addition to the RC tool bench!

I can't recommend this one enough. I have 3 in my shop.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up!

Can you also recommend a bit/accesssory kit to go along with it?

I find the kits usually have 2 or 3 bits you use then a bunch of junk. I usually find the bits I use and then buy a few of each. Of course, a lot of that has to do with my ADD and having more than one is a MUST, lol.

I use these. You might find some cheaper but beware of soft metal ones, there's some real junk out there.

X2, PCB (printed circuit board) flush cutter, buy the good ones, just don't cut piano wire with them.

Nice, Josh (Harley) recommended a gyroscopic one that he really liked, iirc it was DeWalt, but can't find it now...was convertible from inline to pistol grip and back.

This one converts back and forth as well. And its got torque that just amazed me. It will drive just about any screw that my 20v will, just at 1/5 the speed, lol.

Yes lol.

Good to know, thanks.

Buy good drivers and many less rounded out fasteners and the tools will last a long time if not abused.

Oh, I learned that a long time ago. All my hand drivers are top notch for sure. But those dang bits, I just can't keep track of em. And since I hand tighten/loosen everything anyway, they do the trick for me just fine. Still have to find good ones though, there's some real junk out there

Aside from everything said above, Blue loctite and some strong double sided tape, maybe shoe goo/e6000.

You have more patience than I, lol. I would have been turning screws by hand!

Haha! Actually I'm sure I'll do most of the build by hand I see the power driver coming in handy mostly for disassembly. And I just received my kit today I haven't even had it in hand until today so the build will start soon!

Thanks again for recommending the power driver. It actually makes assembly SO much easier than doing it all by hand. I still do the final tighten / torque by hand, but the driver saves so much time and wrist fatigue.
