Gear mesh issues

Hoping someone can help me out. I got a 9 tooth pinion and I can’t seem the get a good gear mesh. When I put the 9 tooth on it’s either way too tight on the A and B holes on the motor mount or way too loose and slips on the C and D mount. I have a hot racing aluminum mount and steel 45 tooth spur. I tried different combinations of stock mount and spur gear and steel spur and aluminum mount and the issue only exists with the 9 tooth pinion. If I run the stock 11 tooth with any combination of the aluminum mounts and steel spur vs stock parts the mesh is fine. Are the motor mounts for the trx just not drilled to properly accommodate a 9 tooth pinion and 45 spur?

Re: Gear mesh issues

I swap between a 9t and 11t depending on my mood for the day. I ended up using a bit of sand paper around a screw driver to sort of elongate the lettered holes. This in on the stock plastic mount though but I'm assuming it can be done on your aluminum mount.

Mine is in the c hole with 9t pinion. then shimmed with tiny strips of gorilla tape under the motor mount until I was happy with the mesh.

That’s what I suspected. I may try elongating it with a drill bit and see what happens.
