Power for lights

I have an aftermarket roof rack with lights. Can I plug the cable into the extra channel 1 on my stock traxxas receiver for power? Thanks for any help.

If it's a 6v light then it should be no issue. I run lights off my Rx.

Re: Power for lights

Depends on the ESC and Lights.
The original XL5 is a bit weak on the BEC, but a few 5mm LEDs with 20mA each will do.
A real Lightbar with higher power will get the XL5 hot.
If you're driving with e.g. the 1080 there's a bit more juice available, it can supply 3 amps instead of the XL5's meager 1A.

I'm not running it off of my ecs. I was wondering if I could run it of of the extra channel 1 in my receiver. I want to power 4 lights.

How are you using the 1080, Y connector, school me please? Lights on full time, once powered I assume.

While I am at it all full of questions. What is "driving with e.g" ?

thanks in advance,

The ESC supplies the power to the receiver, so it dictates voltage and how many amps the rx can put out. ;-)
