Winch unit for TRX-4

New to the TRX-4. Need info from experienced guys.

What winch do you guys recommend? Something that's easy to install and hassle free?

thanks

Scale winch or servo winch?

Stock radio? Is your rig a Sport or original model? (Need to know if you have a free channel on the radio)

You'll get better recommendations with these pertinent details.

HI,
A scale winch. I purchased the Flysky GT5 yesterday.

It's the TRX-4 sport kit with the kit bumpers.

Alright, well you have plenty of channels on the radio, so you can get a radio controlled winch controller like the Dragon from RCAddict or HeyOK. Just plugs into your RX, and another plug that goes into a power tap you'll need off your ESC wire, either soldered or premade.

I'm partial to the RC4WD 8724 since it has power similar to a servo winch, but a mostly stock trx isn't that heavy. So you could go with one of their smaller, and cheaper options. Or the LockedUP RC Commando. I personally avoid the 3racing/integy/Amazon special/etc. Unless I'm not planning to need to winch the vehicle a lot. And at their price point, might as well get RC4WD.

To mount it, you'll need a bumper capable of having a winch mounted. Iirc the Sport had a fake winch molded in. Unless it was separable...?

That 8274 (sorry, I had the # wrong) is a HOSS!! Mine'll lift my 9&1/2-lb. rig UP THE WALL .... NO prob! (though I almost never use mine ) And it can be mounted inside like a servo winch pretty easily. You just need simple tools and basic fabricatin' skill. The winch-line hole in the bumper and mount is about the hardest part, if you don't have a way to mill it. That way you can have the killer winch and keep the nose short. ;-)
