| Anyone done a trials specific trx4
Trying to find if anyone has done a trial specific trx4, I'm looking for minimal overhangs and the ability to thrash my friends scx10ii mog 😂 a little healthy competition between two pals, I'm considering cutting the chassis rails if need be.

The unimog scx has almost zero over hang and snags on nothing. The defender is a lot longer with massively over hanging body and doesn't cope as well as the mog.

Get the shorter wheelbase link conversion kit that Traxxas sells and a 12.3 wheelbase body, to start... As much as I love my Defender, it ain't gonna compete with a SCX10.2 on approach and breakover angles or COG. |

You could remove the bumpers/ bumper skin. Then flip the mounts.

Considering what we get up to with it ours is mainly trails. I’ve got a kit with the camper body. I’d originally flipped the bumper mounts, but they hung up way too much so I replaced them with Scaler Fab ones, which are much better. Also raised the sliders 8mm. They aren’t yet flush with the center as 8s about all you can do without cutting the body, which I didn’t want to do (yet). But 8mm rise does bring them up out of the way a lot |

Competition, not trails, but I certainly don't have angle issues, lol. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

^^ Holy enormous pictures As stated, the Sport is the way to go for performance. A little bumper work and tuning, and it'll easily keep up with an SCX10. Mine was a beast until I tore it down and started over... Converting over a Defender is not that hard. Last edited by OSRC; 01-07-2020 at 06:32 AM. |

You're pretty much gonna HAVE to cut the rails off to improve the angles much. I'm runnin' a "kit" rig with ProLine's '73 Bronco body and it's about as stubby as I could find on both ends. To get the bumpers tucked in enough I cut about an inch or so off of the rear. Then it runs a servo-style winch set-up, with about 1/4-in. or more cut off the rails in front. It's riight at 20-inches from the tip of the stinger to the tip of the rear shackle mounts, and it'll go everywhere my buddy's TRX Jeep will go. His son's SCX can't even come close to the same approaches, so far. I run the BowHouse hi-clearance skid too (he does too, now ) and that helps too. Not sure if this helps, but info anyway. jim Last edited by dr frankenstyle; 01-07-2020 at 08:05 PM. Reason: doh! |

BTW, I read through all of (these guys👆🏾 above) Durok’s, OSRC’s, Jeepu and Jim’s Green Bronco thread before repurposing my perfectly lovely stock Bronco, lol. Lots of good ideas in all of the above...opening up those wheels is the ticket.

Yeah I think I'm gonna bastardise my defender. Rail cutting is the only real solution to make a proper trials beast. Or do I just buy another second hand and go crazee
