Default most quiet steering servo?

looked this up and didnt find much. just installed a savox sa-1230sg and the thing can't shut up even at center so much so that i want to go back to the stocker. what other options do you guys like? note: I'm running a 550 3300kv axe that is real quiet so it magnifies the steering servo problem.

I think most Savox servos make an annoying buzzing sound. All of the ones I have do at least.

Lately I've been buying cheap servos off of Amazon and they seem to be quiet so far.

stock servo didnt have buzz when you were off the steering wheel and wheels were center. this servo won't be quiet no matter what.

I don't know that that's true and even if it is some brands are louder and more obnoxious than others. For example, my Tekin T-360 servo is really quiet whereas my Hitec 7954 is the loudest and most obnoxious servo I've ever used. It's much worse than an Savox I've used.

That's not Reefs. That's 3Bros. The 3Bros servo is a clone of the Holmes Hobbies v1 servo as confirmed by John Holmes himself.

For quiet operation, you need a brushless servo (not coreless). The Holmes HV500 and SHV500 are very quiet, so is the Spektrum S6280 and Promodeler 470.

is that just a general rule about brushless servos? looks like the hv500 is the cheapest of those. what other advantages or disadvantages of brushless is there?

I run Savox 1230sg in all my rigs and yes I can hear it buzz on the bench but honestly once it is outdoors on the trail I hear nothing at all.

Brushless are generally stronger and more efficient as well.

I used to run expensive servos, now I run the $15 to $20 servos from Amazon in my trail trucks because they’re cheap, quiet, strong enough and I’ve never had an issue.

I also used to spend out the butt on high dollar servos. I put a $40ish dollar HD Power 23kg servo in my Axial UMG10, and a $32 dollar DS3225 (blue case) 25kg servo in my Gmade Komodo Double Cab. Both are plenty strong and surprisingly quiet. I’d say the DS is just a bit quieter but both are quieter than most that I’ve owned. A lot of people will insist that “you get what you pay for”, but neither has let me down yet.

does it matter if i get a servo with a 180 vs a 270 degree throw? the trx4 doesn’t even use the full 180 and the stock controller can’t set end points i don’t believe. regardless, my problem is with noise at center

You can set endpoints using the controller and the menu sequence shown in the manual.

You're correct, in stock form the trx4 doesn't use 180 degrees.

Never had a noisey servo apart from the chatter before they die. And I've had dozens. Must be set up wrong
