Default Widening the track on my Defender?

Would like to widen the track width on my defender.
What’s the best way to go about it?
Deeper dished wheels or are there wider wheel hexes that work without having to widen the axles?
TIA

MIP makes a kit with wider axle shafts and spacers that are a bolt on. I have a set of 4 in my parts box if you could use them.

The Defender is quite top heavy as it comes from the factory and widening the track will help a bit for side hilling and fast turns.

A quick search will find you widener options of up to 23mm using your original wheels. These have an extended hex and long hollow bolts that act as nuts and usually include spring washers as you can't use nylock nuts with these. I tried the 17mm wideners but they didn't do as much as I hoped.

I lowered mine as much as I could and raised the sliders with 15mm spacers (and longer screws). I added some heavier 87g inner portals at the front and brass link and shock mounts as well as fitting high mass beadlocks and brass shock spring retainers but still ended up going with a lighter body in the end. The result is a fairly heavy rig but it does well on the rocks. I'll be changing to lighter beadlocks to take strain off the drivetrain and adding brass C hubs to the front and portal covers to the rear if the performance drops too much.

The thing to remember is that no matter which way you go, extenders or deeper dished wheels, anything that widens the track using the standard axles is going to put more stress on the stub axle, change your steering geometry and wheel clearance and add a lot more load to your steering servo and linkages. I haven't heard of any wider axles for the TRX-4.

Thanks for the info, only really looking for a subtle widening to keep within scale

My MIP wideners arrived yesterday. They are only 4.5mm wider each side but along with the +1.5mm gained from the new beadlocks now gives me 6mm each side which is just right.
