Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III I wonder how the new SCX10 III will compare to the TRX-4. it is about the exact same but way more realistic. Any thoughts? |
Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III Aaaaaand here we go... C-channel frames, portal axles, and scale transmissions are the new thing. That doesn't mean trucks won't be very different. I mean Chevy, Ford, Dodge and Toyota trucks are made very similarly yet they're very different. Almost nobody has experience with the SCX10 III so we'll have to wait for real comparisons. I'm not sure which you think is more realistic, but I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III I know the body can be changed, but the JL body just reminds me of all the doofuses around here who drive their Wranglers around with 6" lifts and 37's to go to the office. |

How so? |

Well that is cool, but it's just a partial cover. You could add one of those to a TRX-4 I'm sure. I think SSD has the best engine motor cover by far. |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III It will be interesting to see a side by side comparison. It's only a matter of time before someone will do it. |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III We'll just have to wait for someone to do a comparison. I'm a big fan of the locking diffs which the new SCX10 III still will not have and I'm not sure how I feel about the split rail frame. |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III Will be interesting to see a head to head, you hear a lot about the trx4 and high center of gravity due to the portals. Will be a fun to see how they compare. |

Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III Will be funny to say to scx guys ugh portals you must have a high centre of gravity and need lots of brass to hold it down........ Yawn |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III dig and bead locks, the TRX4 has neither. |

Dig is a personal preference and of no interest to many of us. There are actually beadlock wheels available for the TRX4 from Traxxas which are very reasonably priced. However, at present there is no possibility of a locking diff option for the SCX10 iii either from Axial or the aftermarket. It remains to be seen which will be a better performer in stock form. I'm looking forward to seeing people post comparison videos for all the mainstream scale crawler platforms. |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III Is it was TRX4 vs SCX10.2, I would have said RTX4. However, with it being TRX4 vs SCX10.3, is have to say SCX10.3, no question. ~ More peace, love, laughter & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place [emoji1690] |

So you have driven both TRX4 and SXC10 iii?!?! |
Re: Traxxas TRX-4 vs. SCX10 III Quote:
Both have 2-speed (well, one variant of the TRX4 does) & portals, but only one includes a dig. Also, un regards to wheelbase adjustability, the SCX10.3 uses a more 'intelligent' system for trail length adjustability. Finally, while older Axial kits used lower-quality, lower-strength plastics, the "new" generation of Axial kits have the majority of their plastic parts made in the Losi/TLR factory, which is higher-quality, higher-strength plastic (as an owner of a few TLR kits, I'm familiar with the working of Losi/TLR plastic). I could (easily) give additional reasons for my decision, but these are the most important ones. ~ More peace, love, laughter & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place [emoji1690] |
