Default any problems cutting off the traxxas plug

I am breaking down and am looking at the trx4 blazer, however i dont have any traxxas batteries. it there any issues with cutting off the traxxas battery plug to use a different connector? with problems i mean, is there any built in functionality into the esc with the traxxas id stuff that would be an issue?

would the LVC continue to work, that type of thing.

thank you in advance

You can cut the traxxas connector off, just remember to cut one wire at a time and solder on whatever you like. Or you can always do a adapter to make it easier. Using a adapter will give you more connection points and gives it more resistance. But you should be just fine using a adapter. I do on some of my trucks and have never had any problems.

No problems. I put T-plugs (Deans) on all my rigs, and everything works fine on my TRX with one.

They don't make adapters that keep the "ID" function of the Traxxas plugs - that's proprietary technology. You just can't use certain Traxxas charger features - but Traxxas chargers and batteries are overpriced anyway.

I actually found adapters for not only my Deans plug batteries, but also my XT60-equipped batteries - you need to search for Male XT60 to Female TRX and Male Deans to Female TRX, depending on what your batteries are equipped with. I have had no issues charging or using my crawlers with these adapters.

i didnt realize that regular traxxas plugs would work. i thought i had to get an ID connector.
so this would work if i had a deans battery?

Yep, their description details don't seem right (tamiya??), but the picture and title are ok. The ID feature is mostly for charging.

This is the plug adapter I’m using right now, I may end up cutting the traxxas connector off and soldering a deans on though.

The XL5 ESC power plug is nothing special just clip it off and replace. However, I will tell you that the stock XL5 ESC is weak rated at only 1a 6v output. IMO, a much better solution is to replace the XL5 ESC with a Hobbywing WP1080 for $42 which works surprisingly well when paired with the stock Traxxas Titan 550 21t motor. You can then sell the XL5 on ebay (yes people buy them for some reason) to recoup the cost of the HW1080. The HW1080 output is rated at 3a 6v which will allow you to run a stronger aftermarket steering servo such as a Savox 1230SG.

I got a pair of adapters off amazon for like $7 bucks shipped. No issues. I'm running them for a bit til my motor dies then I'll get the HW esc and a different motor

a hobby store about 40 minutes from my house had the trx4 bronco in stock. i was able to pick it up today and the adapter to deans. i still might cut the adapter because most of my batteries are the spektrum ic5 plugs

A good find. The bronco is a good platform.
