Axe 550 Guys - get in here!
 

What pinions are you running with your Axe 550's? I went with a 12t on my blazer w/3300kv but was considering going larger. I saw a youtube where they were running a 15t on the trx6 with the Axe 3300kv and wondered what you guys are using.

You considered going larger? Do you mean smaller? I currently have the stock setup on my TRX4 but I have the Axe 550 3300Kv setup in my OG SCX10 and have recently moved it to the SCX10.3.

If you are on 3S power a 15T pinion is going to make your 1st gear speed just over 10 MPH and 2nd gear just over 16MPH. That is really quick in these rigs.

Are you trying to get more speed out of it or did you mean you are looking to slow it down?

I was thinking of going to a larger pinion for a bit more speed.
When I ordered the axe I bought an 11t to use, but decided to go with the 12t the axe came with. I have been running that all winter and it has been working great.

I was watching some YouTube and saw guys using 15t and it got me to think maybe I should try to go a bit larger. The 12t it's plenty fast, I was just wondering what most of you guys are using.

I'll probably order a 14 to see how I like it......

BTW....I traded for a Defender that had a 4300kv Brushless system. I clocked that at 22mph.....that sucker was fun. Too fast, but fun. I pulled the motor and put it in a slash and sold that one. lol
