Default Horrible noise when steering full lock???

Hey guys, so I am wondering whether this is a design flaw or if I possibly did something wrong when I built the truck.

I noticed it from the beginning but didn’t think much of it until the truck was on its back and I was just messing around giving it some gas and turning the wheels. Here’s a video of what I am talking about.

Can someone tell me exactly what is going on and are the upgrade parts that fix this problem. I thought that without traditional dog bones it would not have the problem I feel like I’m hearing from older RC cars, where the dog ones would slightly exit the wheel hub at full lock but not fall out.

Did you set the endpoints? Could be over traveling.

Yeah, well I did now.Almost 50%. I was assuming this thing was designed for better steering angle.

seems like that's the solution. I was hoping for crawling there was some kind of sealed CV or something that you could max out endpoints and really get a lot of angle.

Like what do they use on drifters that need crazy steering angle?

I have the same issue with my Redcat Gen8. I’ve spent hours checking everything to find out the issue...funny thing is it goes away when I take the tires off.

Is the tread on your tires making contact with your lower links or something.

Nope - I’ve thoroughly checked for any point that may be rubbing, cant see a thing. Redcat wrote back to me telling me it’s a ‘normal CV hub issue’ and that I should turn down the dual steering. But then I lose out on having that 47deg steering angle...it also doesn’t explain why it isn’t an issue without the tires mounted.

Not an "issue"...

This is completely normal. As designed, the steering is able to turn further than the CVs are designed to, so at full steering they bind and kick. If you limit your steering by about 5 degrees, it will go away.

It is still there, you just don't see it, but if your finger was on the axle, you'd feel it. The mass and rotation of the tires amplifies the kick of the CVs.

Does it do it while driving? It's like the steering chatter in the touring cars. Don't adjust the d/r just do the end point adjustment.

Seems like someone discovers this and posts a video of this every few weeks. This is normal and wont be nearly as "chattery" when the rig is on the ground. its just the nature of a front axle whether CV or U-joint when getting close to its max angle.

You can back of the steering throw a bit to lessen this or just accept it knowing that you'll typically spend very little time using full throttle and full lock.
