Default Question on the TRX 8028 light module

Not understanding the purpose of the "one red wire" Futaba servo connector.....????

From the manual:

"...The power supply connects to the receiver and electronic speed control to provide single-point control of your lighting components..."

https://traxxas.com/products/parts/8028

If you send positive and negative power to the 8028 power supply, what's the purpose of having the Futaba single wire connector running to the receiver? Does it perhaps make it function as a relay and only lets the power supply work if the Rx is powered up?

Thx........

I think it’s there to turn on/off the light module when the receiver gets power, making the module like a relay. I believe the little auxiliary connector on the Traxxas esc is directly connected to the battery without any kind of switch.

That is it exactly.

For a lot of us with custom wiring, the lights turn on as soon as we connect the battery. That red wire receives voltage from the power bus on the RX, which gets its power only when the ESC is turned on.

Thought it was a relay switch. Got mine all wired up and the Rx box all battened down so I didn't want to experiment if I didn't have to. Big thanks to you both!
