| Overdrive vs underdrive for TRX-6
Hey guys just got a trx6 and I'm debating if I should do overdrive or underdrive the reason for the underdrive is because the 2 axles on the rear delivers more traction than the front but i might be wrong so what is your take on this? Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk |

Most favor underdrive for the rear with the idea being the more reduction (though that just sounds wrong it should be less?) you have the more torque twist is accentuated. Portals are kind of the exception though. The reason for this is the portal box is providing the main reduction and the direction the portal gears are spinning is front to back and not side to side like a ring and pinion (alone). That said I'd probably just look at it budget wise, buy 1 set or 2? I think I'd probably go the cheaper route personally because the portals really negate torque twist. I got my TRX4 to pull a very clean wheelie where the entire front end lifted in unison, not one side first. That really opened my eyes to the difference portals make with TT. |

Agreed with Casey. Good info. I’d just go overdrive in this case for the cost. By the way, this would get more traffic in the TRX4 forum. Even though this is a 6 we post about those in the TRX4 forum all the time. Let me know if you want me to move it. |

The advantage of a OD/UD setup on a TRX4 is limited at best, on the TRX6 I don't see any upside due to under driving 4 tires rather than 2.

I think it might be interesting to do over in the front stock center and under at the rear. Curious...

I just run OD in the front axle. Seems to be a good setup. Helps with turning a bit...doesn't really affect climbing at all, it was pretty stable before and didn't need much help.

I am running the overdrive now. I like it. As everyone says...it turns much tighter...though it turned well Stock.
