Default 20vmki's TRX-4 Sport Buildup!

Funny the panhard mounts were being discussed.

I stripped the screw out of the lower mount this evening playing on my rock wall.

Steering was definitely affected.

The tiger trap and bridge are great! Good use of the garden stakes (that’s what the bridge looks like to me) and the bridges like that always look tough to me.

10-4. Do you know what thickness? And did you confirm there’s still some endplay? If it’s shimmed too tight on the *main shaft it could be preloading the ball bearings when you assemble the case and causing binding & noise (*I called it secondary main shaft in the post above). Also did it spin free once reassembled?

I think I did 0.5 on the side with the spacer, and something close to 1.13 on the bearing/pin side. It spun very smoothly once all reassembled and, also, the squeak was heard before shimming.

Well dang, at least the shimming got rid of the click! Sounds like you’re on the right track of isolating drivetrain parts to troubleshoot the squeak further.

So early this morning I followed your guy's advice and flipped the TRX-4 on her back and from there loaded the rear and front drive-line independently. Video below shows the results:

You should be able to see that the rear (furthest from the camera) did not cause a squeak, while the front did.

Then, for some reason, after determining the FRONT drive-line was the problem, I decided to take the REAR drive-line apart....did I mention it was early and no coffee yet?

Surprisingly (sarcasm) when I loaded just the rear drive shaft, I heard no squeak. I then proceeded to disassemble the rear axle/diff/portals, re-grease, re-assemble, and put it all back together to come to the realization that I was working on the wrong part of the drive-line....sigh.

Now, on to the front. There I was able to load just the driveshaft and found that the end on the transmission was squeaking, so I swapped the shaft around to see if the squeak followed the driveshaft or stayed at the transmission. It followed the driveshaft. So I took both driveshafts out, for good measure, and disassembled them. I found some rust, which I cleaned out, worked the joints around a bit, then put it all back together, squeak is gone! (for now)

So no greasing or anything? Just take it apart and clean it up a bit? I have the same squeak in the front drive shaft...

I used some oil to get it clean then wiped it all away.

Awesome!!!

I loved the “no edits”

Really cool the contrast of the blue truck coming out of the green ferns.

Excellent job with the truck and course.

Thanks! One day we'll get through the whole course with no resets!

Thanks, that's my goal, trying not to make it "stuff I found around the yard and put in a big pile".

Tried out putting the battery in the front location, I can do endos now I think I am going to put it back in the LCG tray I printed.
