TQi Cruise Control, does it need a Traxxas ESC?
 

I am trying to get my TRX-4 Sport to use cruise control with the following setup:

• Traxxas TQi 2 Channel Transmitter (6528)
• Traxxas Link Wireless Module (6511)
• Traxxas TQi 5 Channel Micro Receiver (6518)
• HobbyWing QUICRUN WP 1080 (30112750)

I though that the Traxxas TQi multi-function knob worked with the receiver to let you configure things like steering sensitivity, throttle trim, including cruise control, but my cruise control is not working.

Using the app I can set the Drive Effect to Cruise Control and see the percentage change on the app as I move the multi-function knob on the transmitter. But when I pull and hold the throttle, press the Set button on the transmitter, then release the throttle, the truck stops, it does not cruise :)

In my searching I found another thread talking about not selecting the TRX-4 Sport profile, as the Sport didn't come with a TQi transmitter. But even changing the profile to a TRX-4 (no Sport) didn't fix it.

Has anyone run into this before? What am I missing? :)

It's definitely not the ESC, as my TRX4s all have the 1080 and Cruise Control works flawlessly.
I have the full 4 channel Tx, though, so i can only guess the 2-channel "just can't".
Your Rx is the non-TSM-Version, i have 6533's but i'd say those are not the problem, as cruise control is a transmitter function.

Just a thought, but I found if I had the TSM assistant turned on that cruise control would not work.

I'm using TSM and CC and it works flawlessly?!
Or did you mean you're changing the MuFu knob setting? It may be that CC only works if it has the MuFu assigned, i adjust both via app and it works.

Make sure the multi function knob is set to be CC, it only has 1 function at a time (whatever its set to).

Mine was set to CC and at one point this somehow changed and I had to set it up again to be CC.

Agreed, it sounds like that multi-function knob is in the wrong mode.

Just to follow up, I confirmed with Traxxas support that my issue is the receiver model.

6518 does not support cruise control, I would need to shift to 6533 to get the cruise control capability.

Thanks for the info, i'd never thought that the TSM capability would affect CC, too.
