You can find them for 35-40$ online.

I believe that plastic gear on the table next to the blue traxxas servo is the donor for the bearing on the op’s finger.

ETA- beat again.

Thanks for the link though!!!!

That company has some pretty cool direct power programmable servos at decent prices.

I've been using T-Pro TPro MG958 servos and have had good luck with them. Rated 20K at 6.6v I get them off ebay and the pricing is all over the place. The last time I purchased them I got 4 for $40 plus shipping.

My hobby store guy highly recommend the ecopower brand of servo's. Anyone using those that can speak to their quality? I may try one if this rebuild doesn't last...

I don't like the fact that the Eco power Servo has one plastic gear in it. For the same amount of money , you can get this Savox steel gear servo with 500 oz of torque.

Here’s a long “Budget Servo” thread.

Maybe go to the end and go backwards as it started a few years ago.

Some purse swinging but a lot of good info. You just have to filter through everything.

If for some reason I stray from direct powered servos, I’m giving Savox a hard look.

The fact that they do really well on 6v is very appealing to me.

Some rc racers use them ...if there is a plastic gear inside ...stay away !

I've stayed away from the EcoPower because of the plastic gear but my buddy has one that has held up on his SMT10 with Clod sized tires which is probably the harshest duty for servos in RC. He crashed it hard enough to blow apart the servo saver and servo case but the gears held up just fine. I'm now a believer the plastic gear isn't too much of a deal.

Maybe that plastic gear is a nice fail safe. An internal swrvo saver if you will.

I never thought of that. Gears are cheaper than a whole servo

After watching all of RC reviews servo tests, there are a few brands that just pull more per dollar. His tests don't show durability though.

I decided to get ds servo 3225. It's not super powerful, and I'm not sure if it is pulling it's 300+oz rating, but last 3 days I've been binding it up very hard and overworking it in my trx6. I got 2 for 25$ from bangood. While it's not REEFS or HH grade, you can crawl with it, it doesn't need a Bec even with the 60 or so LEDs in the truck, and it is much better than the stock servo. I'm gonna keep pounding it and see what happens. I figure I can see what it can take and if it fails I'll know how far I can push the second one. After that I will likely get HH.

Right now...lol... I'm pretty happy with the ds3225 and it's performance as a cheap upgrade over the 2075x.

An external BEC is a good idea even with a less power-hungry servo, since the TRX4 ESC outputs 3.5 amps tops and it's prone to fail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYqDSJaSX4A
I got the same servo an year ago and I was happy initially, but now it has a lot of play and oscillates trying to find the center when I lift the car up, new PowerHD 25kg on the way.

It's ok. If I get a year out of 2 servos for 25$ I'll still be smiling. I just spent 800 more on this hobby for the truck, a new charger/Psupply and didn't want to spend ANOTHER 100+ on a servo right now. That oscillating thing is strange. That happened on my xmaxx. I had bumped the gyro setting tho.

Never spend more than £25 on a servo. I see them as consumable and with a shelf life. Had so many including savox, they all eventually fail when you run wet.

Dont kid yourself..that servo was certainly more than 30$.
Anyhow ...to spend some dime on a better servo certainly is worth it .Nowadays you dont have to spend 50$ to have a top notch one.

My 2 cents. You get what you pay for imo. I personally stick to savox or hitec servos. They have always been good to me. I've got some friends that really like the power hd servos and for the most part they have been good. I few od them over the years have crapped out. Good to see your back and running again.
