Default Yet another cheapo Sport build

Here it is. My only other slow tiny truck is an EX Real so I needed something more capable, decent out of the box, and durable as I share it with my 4yo son.

Chinese 20kg servo, 1080, HH TM Sport 27t 550 can and RC4g radio that I use on my other stuff. Done some basic mods and upgrades like metal beadlocks, brass portal housings and trimming/tucking of the fenders. Oh and battery tray never got installed, run my pack on the side.

Just geared down to 11/45 as I plan on running it on 4s when my 880 arrives. Got a 14t pinion too, might use that if I don't like the top speed.

White plasti-dip.

Very, very capable and stout rig for the price!

Rear underdrive next on the list, should have the gears by Saturday...

Went for a crawl yesterday, the stock tires were a bit of a disappointment on slick mossy rock, gotta borrow some Hyraxes and/or PB RB for comparison! It was wet and pretty muddy around the rocks.

Nice rig. Like the simplicity. Try the tire mod on the stock Canyons. You'll like it! All you need is a good pair of small diagonal cutters and some time.

Good looking rig. It’s nice that a guy doesn’t need to blow a fortune to build a nicely performing crawler. Slight variants of that electrics setup has become pretty common in my crawler collection. It crawls beautifully!

Thanks guys.

I wanted something that won't cost me 50 bucks in parts every 2 or 3 runs like my 6s Arrma does

I think the TRX4 really moved the market forward... my last kit was a Wraith Spawn, that thing needed just about everything upgraded. New rigs coming out lately are mostly good to go, metal links, good tires, metal gears, CVDs...

880 arrived. Had some issues with jumpy startup and fwd/rev behavior but managed to find settings that work. Very nice on 4s, creeps like a... creep? And just enough wheelspeed.

Here's the layout, I run 2x2s so stuck the ESC up front.

What a dumbass. After a couple of light runs with underdrive gears I felt like it should be pulling the front around more. Painted a dot on the tires and saw that the front barely spins faster.

Hmm.

Went to check my parts box. Yup, I changed only the ring gear and reinstalled the original pinion.

Five minutes and one facepalm later, UD is doing its work

Thanks. Went hiking the other day, the trail turned out boring for RCing. So half way up I decided to stash the TRX4 in a tree and picked it up on the way back.
I came to a conclusion that trail running is boring. Gimme a good piece of rock and I can have fun for hours, but running on a forest path, meh.
