Default Motor mount

I’m wondering if I drill thru the holes for the motor mount screws, use longer screws with nuts/washers on underside, will I gain any stability in the mount (aluminum). As with most threaded plastic the screws cannot get a good bite and I’m thinking this is giving a little bit of flex to the mount. Resulting in drive gears not meshing properly. Does this idea hold any water with you all. Thanks for your feedback.

It should give it more stability. I haven’t done this personally, but nuts/bolts are almost always stronger than screws into plastic. I would definitely do machine screws and nuts!

Uncle Pete,

I’ve been running a 2 piece aluminum motor mount since early on. Way way more solid of mount than stock.

I picked up this as a spare. Seems well made and a lot less $$$ than my GRC.

That’s what I have, but the screws holding it down are not tight enough IMO.

Oh no kidding??

I have no idea how many times I’ve removed and reinstalled mine.

Still rock solid.

All you can do is try.

The motors on both of mine wiggled just a bit right out of the box, even though the bolts are tight. I cut about a 7mm wide strip of electrical tape and played it across the upper groove of the motor section of mount. The upper cover squishes the tape into the groove and takes the slop away. No joke, I've been running then this way for over a year.
