Default Motor not running

There seems to be a problem with the motor, I took the TRX4 Defender to the beach and had it literally swimming when it stopped all of a sudden.

The steering servo still works but there is no throttle.

Any idea on what is the problem.

See video for details:

If you went swimming, it probably took on too much water locked up. Take it off the spur gear and see if it spins. Could be the spur gear locked up.

Will the motor spin by hand. Your getting signals on the esc lights so the rest of the electronics seen seem ok.

I tried that and it does spin, but might give it another try else time for new motor?

Take some leads and test it direct to see if it will run. You'll know then for sure

Trx4 manual is pretty adamant about keeping the rig out of salt water; electronics and salt water don't mix very well

I get that but the electronics seem fine if you check my video.

The esc are sealed. Maybe you got out of the water before the internals of the electronics got moisture. The motor can on the other hand isn't sealed. If you got salt and sand in there it may be toast.

It might be stuck brushes, give it some throttle and push the truck. If it starts to work again you know you had stuck brushes (and the motor needs cleaning).

Also on the subject of waterproof electronics if you read the fine print you'll see what this really means is its splash proof and not intended to be submerged. Submarine proof electronics are extremely rare (all I can think of is a single servo)

Wait. You started a thread asking for help with a motor that doesn't work, and you didn't even rotate the motor by hand first? That is the simplest troubleshooting step you could possibly do. Just roll the truck along the ground for a few inches and the motor will rotate several times.

Stop running your truck in saltwater. Saltwater is bad for every single component of the truck -- it even weakens plastic over time. There's a reason oceangoing ships have to be constructed from special salt-resistant materials, and it's not because the people who buy those boats want to spend extra money. You will destroy your truck if you keep running it in saltwater -- it's only a matter of how long your luck holds-out.

I'd say if anyone knows what saltwater does to manufactured items, it would be someone who lives on Hawai'i.

Yeah, I’m not going near sand or saltwater here!
