Default Axe 550

Does anyone know the difference between the Hobbywing Axe 550 and the Axe 550 R2?

You can still get the 550 2700kv on there website.
The 550 R2 comes in 3300kv only. Besides that I’m trying to figure out if and what is the difference in the ESC

Just got my 540 r2 system, 2800kv. The major difference is a smaller sensor contact and live data from the esc in the app. Also a new series of motors, not compatible with the old series of esc.
There is a video on youtube about it on the official hobbywing Chanel that explains it pretty well.

Hello,

R2 units have updates to the sensor board (Shielding), as well as a much smaller sensor harness. r2 550 is only available in 3300kv.

The AXE R2 units "replace" all the previous AXE units.
Thank You,

Received mine today. PFongemie, did you use the 12T pinion that comes with it? As I notice the motor shaft is thicker. I need to find a 13T one as I have front motor conversion kit installed and minimum needed is 13T pinion.
Also why did you remove the cooling fan? Just curious. Tks

I actually just ordered a 9T and a 11T to try. It’s way to fast in second gear.
From my experience with the way I drive my motor doesn’t even get close to hot, so there’s no need for the fan.

That’s great, I’ll remove mine too due to clearance issue with the scale interior. May I ask here you getting your 9T and 11T? As I need to get a 13T . Too busy at work to search thanks
