LiPo Connector

I’ve decided to purchase a few new battery’s. I’m going with 3S in a few different sizes. My question is...

What is the most popular connector & why?

Re: LiPo Connector

I've been playing with toy trucks since Tamiya connectors were the norm. There also about the worst.

Amass XT60 connectors are my choice these days. Affordable, easy to solder, easy to grasp to unplug and they just work.

Some of my older trucks still have Traxxas connectors and while they were ok, Traxxas swapped over to dumb ID style and doesn't sell battery side connectors anymore, so I needed an alternative.

First post nailed it. I'd agree XT60 is the way to go. Last time I was into RC, Deans was IT. I think mostly due to how prevalent they were. They were literally everywhere. And they were pretty good connectors.

IMO: XT60 is better for all the reasons listed above.

Deans is ok, but you will have a hard time finding some that are genuine and won't turn into cheese soldering them.
Nowadays XT60 is the way to go, even better with the grey cap at the rear.
They are close to bullet connectors and can carry much more amps than Deans, and the cars of the 2010+ years demand a lot more power out of their Lipos...

XT60 is the best(only, lol) option. Amass is the best, yes.

Yep, since drones use the XT60 as their norm, I am converting my batteries to XT60 from Deans. For micro vehicles XT30 are good.

I have one 3s battery with the grey cover on it...but I don't know where to get them. So the normal heat shrink protects the exposed solder joints.

Re: LiPo Connector

Im swapping to XT60 from Traxxas for the exact reason Meatmonkey said. You can't get genuine ID connectors and every adapter I've tried is garbage. And because the HW1080 uses them, so why not?

Looks like XT60 wins. Just ordered 20 pairs with the grey caps. Now time to practice my soldering skills before they arrive.

They have a lot of mass and the wire, too.
It helps to have a "helping hand" that holds the wires in place because the solder will stay liquid long enough for your fingers to get bbq'd.
And: always plug them while soldering and wait for them to be cold before pulling the dummy.

Thanks for the info. Just got done practicing on some old connectors and various gauge wires. Still have the hang of it. Connectors will be here tomorrow. Have everything setup and ready to go.

How about XT90 ? Same as XT60 but better right? Or it’s not compatible to each other?

Correct me if I’m wrong but XT90 is for higher amps. 4S and above. Kinda overkill for most of my rigs.

Yes, higher amps so the plug is interchangeable with XT60 but overkill in general on 2S correct? Currently I only use old school Tamiya and Deans connectors. Now, I am finally going to pull trigger on lipo batteries and update to more modern XT type connections that every suggested, that’s why I’m asking . Thanks

XT20, XT60 and XT90 are different classe, and as such different sizes.
You can not plug a 30 in a 60 or a 60 in a 90.
They look the same because they are just scaled up, in the pic you see in shops you have nothing that helps you determine the size, but i'd say xt90 has plugs double the size of xt30's.

XT60's are good for 60A continous (the number shows it), that'll be enough even for the ERevo with 6S and 100mph. My Junsi charger can do 1500W cont. and has a XT90 input, it's a monster compared to the XT60 my cars have.

Btw, plug size does not determine voltage.
My drones had EC30 (which is a similar contact to XT30 & just changed the Body) and 4S.
They are smaller and lighter and easier to plug.

Are they from the company Amass?

Yes. Is there a problem with those? Is there better ones?

Amass did invent them. You can't get more genuine than that.

Many thanks amigaman. The pictures looks the same glad you mentioned that they’re not.
