Default TRX4 Sport Kit Build

7/31/21 Current:
IMG_6156

Hey guys! I recently picked up my first 1/10 scale crawler, the TRX4 Sport Kit. Thanks again for all the advice everyone provided on my newbie thread! It's been a long time since I've been in the RC hobby. Crawlers never caught my attention, I was usually focused on track and drift setups. However, I picked up a SCX24 a few months ago. I figured it was an inexpensive way to give crawling a chance. Of course I was hooked after the modding started . I knew I needed a 1/10 scale! I can't believe how much I've missed RC!!

The only mods I've done so far are adding some beadlock wheels from Amazon and cutting the smaller lugs off the front two stock tires. The pics below are from my first crawl yesterday! It felt good to finally get this thing on some rocks!

**the photos are amazing quality (another hobby) - not sure why the quality decreases so much when uploaded to Imugr

TRX4 Sport Kit:
Hobbywing 1080 ESC
Holmes Hobbies CrawlMaster Sport 12T
Savox SW-1210SG BE
SkyFly GT5
SSD Brass Front Portal Weights
Benedict Harry Brass Rear Portal Weights
BowHouse Low CG Tray
Traxxas Narrow Inner Fender Set (8080)
Treal Brass Link Mounts
Samix Brass Front C-Hubs
D-Links Brass Steering Links

Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to RCC!

You picked a great rig to start out with. The TRX-4 is great right out of the box and there are many parts available to upgrade and accessorize it!

The Sport looks great! I think I remember seeing a pic of it on FB.

Since you are now addicted, I'll be waiting to see what else you have in store for it!

I noticed it definitely needs some more weight up front. Just ordered the SSD portal weights

Thanks! I really like the combo. Great low speed control and good wheel speed. I'm running a small PowerHobby 3S 4200mAh. It's small and sits low in the tray. That's why I ordered the battery straps...still need to remove the Traxxas battery lock though...definitely don't need both

Look what arrived today! I'll be putting these on later tonight.

Quality and finish seem very good. I just hope it's my scale that's off by 2g lol.

Installed the brass portal covers. I love how discreet they are, you can't see anything behind the wheel

Just waiting on the Bow House Low CG tray to be delivered now!

Thanks! The SSD stuff seems to really be top notch. It makes me want to ditch these wheels for SSD's lol.

I know it's the norm lol, but I was still surprised as how scuffed and scratched the bottom of the chassis was after only one crawl. I figured skid plates all around would help with that.

I'm waiting on the BowHouse low CG tray to be delivered. I also ordered a new body last night...still debating on what color to go with

Just you wait haha. My Enduro looks like I attacked it with a cheese grater and I've only had it since November or so. The hard ones to get over are that first scratch after a new paint job but these things were made to get beat on, not to sit and look at although that is fun too lol.

Hah! I figured I could try and save the center cover...but I've come to grips with the fact that the links will get bashed up no matter what lol

Ha ha!!!

Ain’t that the truth!!!

My underside is the same way and when the sun hits the body in a certain light it looks like I polished it with an Arkansas stone.

I heard the scraping of lexan within the first 5 minutes of driving it. Lol. At least I ripped that bandaid off.

In my experience, those metal skid plates just catch on stuff especially the aluminum ones. My #1 TRX4 chassis now has nearly 2000 hours on it and it looks well used but as the center skid and axles wear they round off all the sharp edges and actually work better.

The Low CG tray finally arrived! I've been working on a new body for the past few days, just waiting on the paint. I'll post some pics up once I'm done!
