Default Bow House LCG battery tray

I have just installed the BH LCG battery tray in my TRX4 sport and I see that when the suspension in the rear gets compressed it hits the tray before it reaches full compression.

Is this a design flaw or is it something I did? I plan to use shorty 3s packs and they won't fill the tray as it is, should I just cut part of the tray that is hitting the links or is there a way to adjust it, (not sure how, if there is)?

Mine is the same way. I wasn’t too worried about it since the suspension will rarely, if ever compress all the way at the same time.

I’ve been running mine for a few years now without any problems.

Well then thats good to hear, I will leave it alone unless I see it being an issue then.

Thanks!

Your welcome!

Yeah, unless you plan on running the shocks without springs, you shouldn’t ever notice it being a problem.

This is the answer.

The tray was designed when the 12.8 inch wheelbase was the only option for the TRX4. When the 12.3 inch wheelbase versions were later released, the new position of the rear axle caused contact with the tray upon full compression. Unless you are going for big air with your TRX4, the upper link contact will never be an issue.

I bought a crappy ebay tray and moded it. I had the same issue and notched the tray with a dremel to let the links come up a little higher.

The links should only hit in the straight up/down motion, in the rolling motion it should be fine.

I shortened and notched the tray slightly to help clear the links, not a big deal because I don’t run a full size battery. But I wasn’t fully happy with that, so I removed the rear upper links and bent them similar to a high clearance link, then mounted them upside down to give the clearance. Works pretty well.
