Binding Losi radio to stock traxas ESC

The esc won't be an issue. The receiver needs ro be compatible. The traxxas receivers need traxxas radios. If you meant receiver instead of esc.

Losi is Horizon Hobby, as is Spektrum, so a Spektrum System would most certainly do.

Traxxas has it's own, a TRX receiver will only bind to a TRX transmitter.
If you want to use your Losi/Spektrum Tx, you'll need a Spektrum Rx.

Even though Losi and Axial are HH brands, I'm pretty sure they have a proprietary 2.4 protocol and won't work with Spektrum radios. I had a Tx go bad on a HH Proboat brand boat and the stock Rx would not bind to a Specktrum Tx.

Afaik all HH brands use OEM Spektrum, but you may be right.
I never had a Losi, but my Axial and Vaterra Cars had a Spektrum System, although they were a bit picky with the Protocol to use.
Spektrum had some DSM Evolutions that aren't compatible, whyever.
I've long sold them so no way to check...

So i guess my friend can just buy another Losi radio for his controller than, the radio it has seems to be flaky and cuts ion and out.

I he sure it's the transmitter and not the receiver?
