Questions about new Sport build (battery location)

Hey there,

after buying a used TRX4 that didn't have the original shell (so i don't know which one it was, just that it's 313mm wheelbase), the bug bit me. I've ran it a dozen or so times and then thought that it's time for me to build my own, to my liking - so off to order things i went.

For multiple reasons, i went with a Sport kit. One of those reasons is indeed the reason for me asking here, there was something i've overlooked apparently.

So, the plan was to take all the nice bits (wheel weights, electronics, Vitavon gearbox housing, stainless hardware kit, diff locks etc), put them in the fresh chassis. I did that yesterday, and noticed a problem. I intended to run a Proline half cage with the new Comp-style Power Wagon shell (the new one without fenders), and for that ordered a small battery pack (4300mah 60c GensAce), to run on the front battery tray.

I guess you figured out the problem (i didn't realise beforehand): the front battery tray is tied to the front inner fenders, which i don't want to mount, would look rather odd with a fender-less Power Wagon. The original battery location is out of the question too (half cage), and that's my question.

Where/how do people mount their batteries when they don't run the inner fenders? I don't necessarily mind spending money on new parts, i just would like to know whether or not something works before i order.

I don't have your problem, but if I were in your situation I think I'd try to make my own battery tray mounted to the bumper holder (8237).
Another option is to use the front fenders, but cut them down to leave essentially just the mounts for the battery tray and shock absorbers.

Right on the slider. Fits my 2200 packs perfectly, not sure about a bigger pack though.

You've probably solved that problem by now, but in case you haven't I'll throw in a solution I came up sometime ago, when I wanted to put a truckbed on my TRX that was interfering with the LCG battery tray.



It's the stock battery tray, mounted with some L shape plates.

BowHouse makes a nice set up too that lowers the battery down a little if you'd want to mount it in the middle of the chassis.
