Default Injora Chassis and 2 speed gearbox.

I realized, I have almost a complete TRX-4 in parts...

Just missing the actual diffs, and the frame/gearbox. Though I have a gearbox too :P

So I thought, why the heck not.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/133857869098

80$ and I will in practice have two TRX-4's

It does include the motor, and the servo for the 2 speed transmission.

Will be interesting to see how it performs vs the stock traxxas motor.

I'll use the stock esc, and I have a flysky noble controller, with a few receivers, so that would be the electronics sorted.

Figure I'll go with locked diffs and skip the radio controlled diff lockers.

I could do that. sure.

I did order some smaller parts for the build, rear drive axles, main driveshafts, and the suspension arms. Also ordered a steer servo.

My experience with Injora in general, is that their quality varies a lot from part to part. There are some parts that are absolutely awesome, high quality, both machining and materials. Other parts aren't worth considering.

Example being four shocks I ordered for my HPI Savage XS Flux, they didn't survive 30 minutes of on the asphalt driving, backflips etc... no proper bashing... they either leaked all their oil, or the shafts bent...

I had some LED lights show up, that required 13v to light up... They had almost no output at all at 11.1v, and no light at all at 10v

Rated at 5v... lol

I will mostly be using the old stock parts off my TRX-4

But, I have ordered a few upgraded parts as well.

For some of these, I will swap out parts from my other TRX-4 and use the old parts on this build.

I have not decided on what tires to use yet, so that will be a thing I need as well. What shell to use is also a thing.

The Injora chassis is actually somewhat different from the stock Traxxas one, so it will be interesting to see how the parts line up.

I see Injora offers pretty much complete builds, just missing the steering servo and the ESC/Reciever

This kit has shocks and wheels, and suspension/axles/shocks ready setup

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003176182539.html

Some kits also come with portals, and diff-lockers:

Well, I guess we'll see what we get.

As for the parts I ordered so far.

A pair of stainless driveshafts:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/403562940288

A set of internal spring Injora shocks, 100 mm long, so 10 mm longer than stock.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/133343085460

Injora stainless suspension arms, I actually have the Injora stainless steering arms, I never fitted them though, so one of the trucks will have these.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/133766136597

2x diffs, I have complete axels/portals, I'm just missing the diffs and pinion gear, + rear driveshafts

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175269504083

Input gears for the rear portals:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/363997209563

Rear driveaxles.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/304587152768

Steering servo, JX Ecoboost 30 KG:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/324572532991

Hex nuts, I will use these on the other truck, and use the stock ones on thisone. 5mm brass ones.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32889667998.html

And, a set of wheel nuts.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003970684258.html

I think that's all the parts I will need for this build. Apart for the body/body mounts.

Parts that will go into the new build.

I see, I'm missing a radio box. I will also order a stainless screw kit.

Other parts ordered today:
3s 5000mAh - 25C - Traxxas iD Li-Po Short

Tamiya Paint - Black - PS-5
Tamiya Paint - Orange Translucent - PS-43

Traxxas 8212 Body - clear plastic

Traxxas 8215 - Body mounts

Traxxas 8019 - Fender braces

Plan for the paint job, is: black fender flares, orange translucent, with black backing on the body itself, clear windows..

I'll have to concoct a mounting system for the inner fender wells/wheel wells

Eventually sure, I'll probably go brushless on this rig as well.

I do have the Traxxas 2262 highvoltage BEC, I'll install that one too.

I also realized I had the wrong reciever out..

I'll be using the Flysky FGR4S-v2 4 channel..
And the Flysky Noble NB4 controller.

Well, I've setup the controller, updated it, and the receiver to the latest firmware, and designated buttons for the 2 speed transmission. Tested it on the Firehassard, the stock titan motor, and an old steering servo.

The receiver is supposed to have a 200 meter range, so I guess it will be enough, this is a crawler after all :P If it turns out to be a problem, I could upgrade to a regular non S version of the FGR4, as it has a proper external antenna, and a supposed 300m range.

Cool, thanks for putting a thread together. It's interesting to see all of the parts you've cobbled together. You seem to have different part sources in Europe. I do like that SUV style TRX4 body

Thanx!

I mostly used Ebay to be fair.
I think you can get the body too?

Well, Injora messaged me that they are missing parts... so they are offering me one of their other pre-made frames/chassis. I guess we'll see what I end up with.

Well, I suggested https://www.ebay.com/itm/133876665839 or https://www.ebay.com/itm/133857877057 to them...

I have a set of complete portal axles, so them being normal ones is no biggie to me.

Apparently they have a month "build time" on the first frame I chose due to "missing parts"

Hopefully one of the other frames are complete and in storage.

Going for a military greenish color.

Test fitting the wheel arches and body mounts.

Irritates me that the aluminum front bumper I have doesn't seem to have a ready made mount for a D-ring or a tow mount. Oh well... And I am also wondering where to mount the spare winch I have.

I think I'll have to secure the wheel arches with glue.. Thinking along the lines of sikaflex/tech7. Though I do worry that the paint will come off when the body flexes, not that anybody would notice, given how shoddy the paint turned out. So maybe I'll have to screw it on somehow...

I don't have patience for painting in -12c weather, I mean my garage was perhaps 12c or thereabouts.... meh.. I ran the 12 kw diesel heater, but I also had to wrench on my car, changed an engine mount, and changed the lambda sensor for the particulate filter. So I had the gate open, as I was working outside letting the cold in... My own impatient fault.

I tested the body on my Defender, just for the hell of it.

Meh - It's okish.

There are runs, and smudges here and there, but overall it does look ok.

Front bumper and Winch setup completed today.

Had to adapt the mounting plates somewhat, and I also painted them.

I think it will look ok'ish when I get the truck put together.
I also removed the vinyl from the windshield. I don't know what happened to make it look like that, maybe off-gassing from the paint or something...
