The winter series will be 5 races this time since we had to move the Sept. race into Oct. We are at the mercy of Glen Helen from time to time.

I'm new to this type of RC. I have a Poison Spyder Wraith. What are some of the mode that you guys have done? What motor/ESC are you running? It seems like those badass aluminum wheels weigh an awful lot. What is the benefit of running such a heavy wheel set? Do I want my shocks really firm or really soft? What is the benefit of the spare tire on the back other than the scale look. Thanks for any secrets you may be willing to share.

For a motor and esc the 4 pole sensored brushless in 3-4KV range seems to be the choice. Lots of guys run brushed motors too.

For wheels...that is really personal preference. I run TSS Robby Gordon wheels and love em, while some guys run plastic. It's a trade off for weight VS strength, especially at the hub. Theoretically a lighter wheel is best.

The popular shock tune is on the softer side, but still able to take a good hit.

Spare tire adds traction over the rear axle. That seems to help on the hill climbs as long as the rig isn't top heavy.

Copy, paste and fill in the following info in this thread: If you are entering multiple classes list your desired rig number for EACH CLASS and list ALL CLASSES you plan to enter.

Abbreviate classes as follows:

Rule changes for the Winter series are as follows... Unless you all hate them.

All Classes

Rigs not fitting specific class specs, but within the All Classes spec, will be placed in a class at the race directors discretion.

1.9T

Write in tube chassis

We have been allowing tube chassis from the beginning, but the rules didn't technically allow it.

Write in TVP chassis

We don't see any advantage, or disadvantage here. A TVP chassied rig MUST run a 1/10 scale reproduction of a 1:1 body, and have the battery mounted in the chassis, out of view.

1.9C

No change

2.2C

Write in scale tire ONLY

No comp tires, No short course tires, No pin tires. A tire for this class must be a scale tire, either a licensed replica, or a non licensed replica. If it looks like something we'd see on a 1:1 trail, race, or street rig, it's fine.

Change maximum track width to 13"

Previously, the track width for this class was 12.5. This made it almost impossible for IFS conversion rigs to run a 2.2 beadlock wheel and a production 2.2 tire.

2.2 Trophy

Clarify and enforce scale driver requirement Human driver with a helmet

This is the builders U4RC class. Since our emphasis is on scale vehicles, terrain, and media, we are going to be strict about this driver requirement in 2.2 Trophy. The biggest change for this series is the helmet requirement and the fact that this will be enforced.

Write in minimum overall chassis height

We are currently researching what this should be, but we have come up with 4.5" as a preliminary number.

Write in NO plastic chassis component allowed except skid plate

This means you can use a factory skid plate, such as a Wraith, or Wreckluse skid. You could also use the metal portion of an Exo skid, but not any plastic pieces attached to it.

We did discuss it, but only in 1.9 Trail. We decided against it though because it can be too hard to come up with a limit without knowing what everyone is using. Combine that with the fact that so many guys run brushed motors without any markings, we would just have to take their word for it anyway.

so SC wheels are allowed in 2.2c as long as tire is a scale tire, correct? Meaning cutting the rear bead out from a production scale tire.

That's correct. We really don't like the SC wheels at all but due to steering issues we allow them. What we won't allow is a non- scale tire.

Exactly. We recently changed the TW in 2.2C from 12.5" - 13" to allow beadlocks since that's what drivers wanted.

So yeah, it's a trade off in the scale appearance department for sure.
