Race report for U4RC 2.2 comp main. It was a great!! day with just a tad of a breeze. The parking lot was full of racers, and some new racers. 9 rigs started in the class and with the drop of the buzzer I got the hole shot with Jake Wright in second and Derick Gahn in third, Jake and I were able to get out in front where you always want to be (clean air) and we started to set our pace when I decided to make a few mistakes, with Jake right on my ass and as we went up the climb I didn't cut in tight enough and had to try to pull the line over the big rock in the center of the climb which is not a good line so I flipped back wards and Jake took over first, than I made another mistake on the wood and didn't have enough traction to pull up and over so down I went again. Then talk about the down hill......I must have flipped 3 different times coming down, and I took the same line?? With all this going on you also have to keep tabs on the other drivers behind you to make sure no one is seeking up. And all of this time of me playing around crashing Jake was pulling away. During the race I heard everyone yelling and laughing and I guess it was Lue aka Matzilla loosing a wheel nut in the rocks so he had to run down off the driver stand and fix it and he was able to resume racing. He did pretty good for his first time out. Sorry Lue for lapping you Lol..... In this type of racing it only takes one mistake and you'll loose your spot real fast. the final finishing order was Jake Write, Myself, Jeff Garcia and Michael Williams. Everyone else pretty much timed out. This type of racing is a blast, its almost the real deal. It comes down to vehicle prep, the right set up, good parts, and being able to find the fast line. Thanks to the guys at U4RC for putting on a great program, and a awesome course. Everyone had a blast!!
