Default Heavy car motor help

I am running a tekin RS GEN 2 with a 17.5 turn 2 gen redline motor on 3 cell lipo. My car started as a wraith now it is a tube chassis with a wraith 2 speed trans. car weighs about 10 pounds. My plans are to race it, I still want to be able to crawl when its in low. My main worry is this too much weight for my esc and motor????? I ve gained about 2 pounds from when I built my tube chassis. Any help would be appreciated. I have no problem buying new motor and esc if I need, IM NOT SURE WHAT TO GO TO THAT CAN HANDLE THE WEIGHT AND STILL GO FAST.

How fast is fast? I would rock the motor and see how you like it.

Pro4 or pro4 hd is the next choices.

When I originally built the wraith my plan was to have it fast enough to keep entertained on ANYTHING, and it does. with 2 speed it crawls great too. I just fished welding my chassis last night I dont want to fry my motor and or esc... We got a track here in auburn Im planning on racing, if I need to swap to something different I have plenty of cars I could throw my current set up in. I guess im just looking for input if my current weight is too much for my electronics. if so what should I run for trophy class at about 10pounds. any info would be apprecited I spent all day trying to figure it out and now im really confused.

Depends on the final rollout and your driving as much as anything, drive it on the track and test the heat every lap if you want, or just buy bigger.

I'll drive it and see I guess I'm over thinking it. What is common weight on 2.2 trophy class cars?

With the additional weight, I'd plan on dropping a tooth or 2 on the pinion...imo, good pop out of the corners and/or into the jumps is more important than a big top end. The same concept is true in sc racing...the drivers who come out of the corners the fastest lead the pack.

I replied in the other thread. If you are planning on running Auburn with that combo in a 10 lb rig you are definitely pushing it. That track is no joke from what I have seen. I run an RX8 and 3300 on 3's in my 8lb rig. I have underdrive gears in both axles and 13/56 pinion and spur. It gets pretty warm at the end of a 10 minute main, but no issues ever with it. I have killed a few high discharge lipo packs with this combo.

I ended up at 8.5 pounds dropped the PINION by 1 tooth, it crawls great, I did some hot laps around my house so far it seems like the motor should do ok. I cant wait to race it.

I ended up getting a rx8 and a pro 4 hd 3000kv (550) motor, the motor was about a half inch longer than my 17.5 turn 540 motor I had to grind the passenger side upper link mount just a little bit to clear the motor. As of right now I'm running a 12/60 gears rc4wd 2 speed trans with stock wraith axles gearing. The only down side is I lost a little low end crawling speed but gained a ton of torque. I'm going to throw some under drive gears in the axles. I should of bought this set up from the start. Thanks for all the help.. now a have a brushless set up building a brushless 1.9 Toyota scaler next as long as my wife doesn't slit my throat in my sleep. I really appreciate all the help!!!

Rig looks great!......

I had to chime in and say I dig on your "articulation stand". I have been known to use a similar stand myself.
