Default Gearing and top speed

Hi newbie here. Im currently building a 1/10 scale U4 of my soon to be built 1:1 ultra 4.

Im wondering what top speed most people aim for and what sort of gearing they use to get there.

I have a 4000kv hobby king motor that will be running on 3s so im just trying to work out what gearing to use.

What transmission you gonna use? If it's a wraith I use 32p gears and my gearing is 58 spur and 15 pinion. I'm running a tekin pro4 4600kv..

I am running a wraith transmission and im going to buy new gears as this was bought with out any gears. the axle ratio is approx 2:1 as well and running 2.2 maxxis treps.

I was thinking a top speed of around 35mph would be about normal for a 2.2?

35 in a wraith would be basically undriveable. 25 is hard to keep upright. I'd be surprised if many are going over 20 WFO.

Yeah, my rig tops out at about 20 and I don't think I ever got to full throttle on the track.

I agree a top speed of 35 would be way too much. With a 4000 on 3s you are going to want pretty low gears, both pinion/spur and in the axles.

Your 1:1 goes what, 120mph tops?

Thats 12mph in 1:10th scale speed

Pretty sure no Ultra 4 real rig is going north of 300mph, let alone the 350mph that 35 mph would be.

My wraith with the pro4 in it goes maybe 15-20.. Gear it for some torque... If you want blazing fast get a onroad ride..lol..
My 2wd mod buggy was clocked on the straight at renos traction raceway, at 28 mph...and I was flying..I thought it was faster but it is tenth scale..

My 1:1 Is geared for a top speed of 110mph but i would need some bigger balls to drive it at that speed. I have been in one going 90mph and it was fast. So with revised gearing im looking at a theoretical top of 28mph. Thanks all for the input

What would be considerable gearing for a brushed set up 19t motor. 48p gears.

Currently is 80 spur. 21 pinion I think. It gets hot fast. So obviously gear the pinion down. But what's normal. Eventually I'll upgrade to 32p and brushless.

You could try dropping the spur gear as well, like a 76 or 78 with 22/24 pinion.

From my understanding, wouldn't that make it go faster?

it would drop the rpm of the motor... it would still have good torque and maybe not as much top end, its some thing you might have to adjust to your liking..

I just put a 5000kv brushless in my wraith. I'm using 54/14 32p on 2s. Are you using 32p or 48p?

If it's the wraith tranny your using, I'd use a close to my or coty's gearing for you..I'm running 58/15 but on 2s, which really doesn't matter about the battery size, I'd just use 32p gears though..

Throw a 3s in there and hang on over 30

I run a 4550kv on 3s, geared 64/11.

20mph is really all that's steadily driveable. Servos don't like barrel rolls though.

I don't know what stock gearing is. I just used what I had laying around to make it 32p gears.
