Unlimited Class specs Wondering what Unlimited rigs are all about? The name says it all! No limits rigs that can compete in just about anything off road! Most folks will probably focus on Classic Comp style rigs, where you run through a series of gates with a time limit and set of penalties. Currently there are 12" gate width (Mini unlimited) and 16" gate width (Standard) Unlimited classes, which is practically the only spec you need to worry about. Make sure your rig can fit through the gate, and build whatever your heart, wallet, and parts stash will allow! In addition to regular driving classes, Unlimited will also offer a special "payload" class. The first payload type will be a functioning camera that is statically mounted with a clear view of the surrounding terrain. If the payload option is popular, it could open the door for gimble mounted cameras and other payload types. Just think, your crawler could be useful for more than just competition courses! Re: Unlimited Class specs So...Is it ok to run a 2.2pro rig in the unlimited class? Or Do you gotta have a rig just for that class? Will the climbs be to tall for a smaller rig? |
Re: Unlimited Class specs You can run anything in the unlimited class. I can't predict courses, that really depends on who sets them up. I would think that most courses will be similar to 2.2p in difficulty at first. |

If people ran their 2.2p cars in the unlimited class, not only would there be competition but it could really get people interested in the class itself. I would be willing to bet in the beginning that you could easily win the unlimited class with a 2.2p car. Like Holmes said though, its a crap shoot on what the courses will look like. FYI, if the climbs are too tall for a 2.2p rig, they would be too tall for my unlimited rig as its the same wheelbase. |
Re: Unlimited Class specs Just thinking out loud but... The unlimited class could also be considered an advanced 2.2p class in a way. Some guys like a really tough 2.2p course and if you need rear steer and other such things, this could really push you. Maybe this could even help the problem we are having now where some of the guys like easier 2.2p courses and some like the hard ones? The unlimited class could help you feel fulfilled if its harder? |
Re: Unlimited Class specs Thanks..I am full of ideas:shock: |
Re: Unlimited Class specs I would like to see another rule to be added. That the rigs should have something that resembles a cab that is like the standard min 1" high. It might just be me, but I think chassis like a "sporty chassis" without a body just looks silly. |
Re: Unlimited Class specs If you will notice, I don't even call them trucks in the ruleset. This class isn't for looking like something or being familiar, it is pure unadulterated building with whatever parts are handy. You can certainly put a cab or body on your rig if you like the looks. |
Re: Unlimited Class specs So pretty much you can run a drone. Hmmmmm ...... |
Re: Unlimited Class specs You can run anything with wheels. Maybe I should specify it needs wheels to get progress through the gates, lol. |

Re: Unlimited Class specs Did this not go anywhere? I think that an unlimited class would be fun. It would allow people to focus on top performance and innovation instead of worrying about rules. |

Re: Unlimited Class specs Well I have always wanted every type of RC competition to be unlimited. Mostly because I don't care about driver skill. I only care about the ability of the machine. Has something to do with being a tech all of my life I suppose. I have been an IT, Computer, Diesel (Semi-Truck / Locomotive) , Gas Engine, Radio and a few other types of technician. I will never claim to be the best as I am more of a generalist but I love being able to construct and modify. So when it came to RC the legend continued. I put all of my skillsets into making the best RCs. My biggest pride point is when the leader of DriftEZ drove a Tamiya TT01 that I had modified and told me it was the best RC he had ever driven. Since he was one of the best (drove RC for Nissan Canada (https://youtu.be/lY0E7TRKUsY)) and the first I was overwhelmed. Secret: I inspect EVERYTHING. research EVERYTHING and build for ANYTHING I can think of. From hand winding a motor to routing specific pivot points to a high tolerance, I LOVE making something as perfect as I can get it. Soon I will have more on the current vehicle I am working on. Here is the initial view. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds Anyway I will give details on what I am doing with this vehicle as it progresses. Right now it is original and outfitted with some old electronics that came out of my Everest 10 Gen 7. I have many plans though. :) |
Re: Unlimited Class specs Come on JRH, don't let this die, i know everybody is FB, tweeter, instagram and all that social crap, but it would be great if we could run a rig with all the bells and whistles, moa, dig f/r, proportional power to motors, 4ws, etc. and have a class for them! and this forum is where most of the knowledge is at right now. I know its a very old thread, but it hurts looking all my moa rigs just sitting around, if this gets some attention and people start to show up it would be awesome. |
