Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw this is gonna be a sweet build when its complete. was there any reasoning for no upper link adjustment at the chassis? links look good. did you bend and run a die on them yourself? |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Quote:
Thanks, I don't know why there is no upper link adjustment holes at the chassis. I did not bend the front/rear lower titanium links but I did bend the titanium drag link and tie rod link. -Gavin |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Traxxas big bore 3.5 shocks with RPM 2 stage pistons (green) and modded shock caps. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4864/...66eea242_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7809/...7a8c73b7_c.jpg More progress Front axle together with servo and steering linkage done. I mounted the front axle to the chassis with a 1 bend titanium lower link and the upper links are VP 105mm Titanium upper links front and rear bolted to the 2nd link hole on the Enigma axle's. I made a 1/16 delrin tray that bolts to the axle behind the servo for my battery and receiver. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4916/...f181bb95_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4869/...5234131e_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7912/...d5882377_c.jpg |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw I bent my own titanium steering links. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7863/...b265e948_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4823/...33ef9bac_c.jpg Who else likes the round skid? https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4842/...b1e51391_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7883/...ea218c24_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4867/...8d1ece9d_c.jpg |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw More progress A new package of Dlux parts just came in the mail:mrgreen:. I made a 1/8 delrin trans mount to hold the Dlux Ham Berger trans with a Brood 35 turn motor attached. The trans is slightly clocked sideways to clearance the driveshafts and chassis I then bolted the delrin plate to the skid with 4 bolts countersunk to the skid. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4868/...881ae72e_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7819/...fee93b62_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7855/...1f4b8480_c.jpg Thank You Dlux for the Carbo Fiber Ham Berger Trans. The carbon is cleanly cut and looks great!"thumbsup" https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4853/...4f53852b_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7814/...47aa6c11_c.jpg |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw The rear output is a close clearance so I turned the button head into the inside of the chassis and put the washer and nut on the outside of the chassis for clearance. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4888/...428906f9_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4912/...3671c138_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7872/...628328f8_c.jpg The delrin plate hits the arch of the chassis so it faces the trans upward at the back of the chassis facing the motor downwards to the front of the chassis. I wasn't planning this but it looks like it will help with center of gravity so this is how I will run the trans. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7879/...6e1861b6_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4882/...01fd5691_c.jpg |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw I was going to use Traxxas 4952X driveshafts but the front driveshaft rubbed on the motor and the rear just clears so I made a pair of Traxxas 6851X driveshafts. I used two 6851 driveshafts to make the front and the rear driveshaft. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7839/...66d590ce_c.jpg Traxxas 4952X driveshaft weight=21 grams https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7897/...9c319482_c.jpg Traxxas 6851X driveshaft weight=13 grams https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7858/...92dce137_c.jpg I will see how the traxxas 6851X driveshafts hold up to binds and durability compared to the 4951X driveshafts. More Progress I clearanced the delrin battery/receiver tray and bolted a velcro strap to the tray to hold the battery. I then made a 1/16 delrin tray to hold the ESC&BEC I drilled and tapped the sporticus chassis brace to mount the delrin plate. I drilled and tapped the aluminum shock/chassis braces for body posts along with the chubs front and rear. I adding a Crawler Innovations Servo Guard and put on tire's. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4849/...75c808bc_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7841/...6f88a857_c.jpg |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Blue Iris RTR with 3S 500MAH lipo,Futaba receiver, Hitec 7954SH servo, Tekin FXR, Castle Creations BEC, and a Brood 35 turn motor all wired by Nova's Ark. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7881/...9ebb4267_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7805/...2644015a_c.jpg Plenty of driveshaft clearance with the Traxxas 6851X driveshafts. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7918/...41913f22_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7916/...4bd3d922_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7808/...7558b095_c.jpg |

Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw I kept all the electronics inline with the chassis. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4858/...41aaec83_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4894/...cbb0fbba_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4850/...229550a4_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4865/...627c68f7_c.jpg Now that Blue Iris is all wired and the clearances all fit I am putting Dlux springs in the front and Mini T springs in the rear with Mini T Cups as the final step before a test run. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7836/...646e036a_c.jpg |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Blue Iris all together ready to run minus body. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7866/...79c42c43_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4899/...f1516cfd_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4906/...e1fa4d69_c.jpg I drove the first battery in Blue Iris and Nova's ark filmed me so a video coming soon. I then drove a second pack and these Engima Axles rock! (Thanks Casey) Blue Iris climbed lines at the C.I rock pile that had never been done before with a sportsman. The enigma axles have an incredible amount of ground clearance and drag over the rocks without catching the rocks. I have never ran a Dlux Ham Berger trans and didn't know if it had enough gear reduction but after the two test runs the Ham Berger is smooth and has plenty of gear reduction and with the traxxas 6851X driveshafts there is room to gear down the pinion even more:mrgreen:. I have a Parma Xciter bodie that has been painted by Jwalker Designs that will go on Blue Iris. |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Excellent build Gavin and congratulations on building your first complete competition rc crawler entirely on your own. Gavin assembled this vehicle from a nice collection of parts. The only help I was asked for was the wiring. "thumbsup" |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Makes me want to rebuild one of my crawlers. Those axles are amazing. |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Yes rowdy racing and bring back the electronics tray and battery mount please |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Sic build Gavin, love it! "thumbsup" Not sure why it is in the XR10 section though...? |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Quote:
I suggested he put this build in this section because it uses XR10 axle shafts, c hubs and knuckles. There isn't an AR44 section for rigs like this on RCC, at least not yet. I'm also not sure how this build would fit in the scale 10.2 section(?). The GEN2 AX-10 section doesn't get much traffic either, even though this uses the same chubs and knuckles. Of the six currently running competition 4x4's (sportsman) at our shop, Blue Iris is probably the best performing. I'm eager to receive the custom painted body Xciter body for this build that JWalker designs is painting. It's going to be a spectacular paint scheme for sure  |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Ya, I would consider it an AR44 (Shafty), not an XR10 (MOA). I don't care where it is, the more traffic to RCC the better. Fuk Facebook! :flipoff: |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Quote:
Great point"thumbsup" Maybe we can get a MOD to create a new section. I know that section would have some amazing builds to start the section off with. I totally agree with you on bookface, I'm not a fan. I think forums will make a come back as certain forms of social media sizzle out and fail this year. RCC could become better than ever. |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw 90% of the sporty builds go in the ax10 section Nice rig, I have most of the parts to put together axles a lot like those for my new sporty build. |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Quote:
Thank you Dad! -Gavin Quote:
These axles are amazing... It might be rebuild time:mrgreen:.Bump -Gavin Quote:
Thank You, XR10 axle shafts, c hubs and knuckles is why I put it in this section. -Gavin Quote:
"Maybe we can get a MOD to create a new section." Bump -Gavin Quote:
Thank you! There isn't anything AX-10 about this rig. Bump on a new sporty with Enigma axles"thumbsup" -Gavin |

How about this one? http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...direction.html I have most of the stuff sitting here already for a new sporty and class 2/performance scale rig. http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...psovhpe8ft.jpg I had solid covers made for the scaler since adding tungsten isn't allowed. http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps4owvyre3.jpg |

Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw Quote:
Rob used the same parts from High Altitude but with the same portals as I'm using. The scaler will be good, it has trx4 axles on it now and I'm real happy with that type of axle on it so far so I'm really looking forward to getting it done. On a side note that rig will never see anything but CI 6 bolts, the brass is built to clear that wheel perfectly. |

Right on, I am curious to see your scaler with Enigma portals and brass covers with 6 bolt wheels:Smokin: Thank you -Gavin |

Please make a Sportsman build thread section Mods! Blue Iris uses XR10 AXLE SHAFTS FRONT AND REAR the only reason I put the build thread in the XR10 section. Blue Iris is not a unlimited comp crawler but A COMPETITION 4x4 Sportsman Comp Crawler. |

Thank you, I was just wondering what the chassis was. -Gavin |
Re: "Blue Iris" A AMW Built Enigma Axle'd:Y Town Sporticus Chassis:Activated Outlaw An actual sportsman section would be cool. I bet it would be far easier to just rename the ax10 section and move all 10 builds that are outside of there in leaving a forwarding link so old references to them would still work. |

Agreed. Another great idea that makes too much sense to be implemented  |
